Get natural with responsible fashion from this ethical womenswear label
Regardless of the constantly changing weather in the city, it’s officially July which means we should be wearing our summer wardrobe. At YCB we are always looking for our next favourite brand, and stylish pieces to add to our ever evolving look.
We love supporting British designers and here we have found another gem, and this time it’s a very fashionable excuse to support the environment! Madia & Matilda is a unique luxury clothing label which specialise in sustainable fabrics and upcycling. Each piece is handcrafted, turning old garments into new, sophisticated designs, or even designing brand new pieces with sustainable fabrics.
The label was launched in 2013 by Shalize Nicholas, after working for industry icons such as Mary Katrantzou in Paris (she knows her stuff) and is now based in the beautiful Cotswolds. Nicholas has a passion for print and vintage fabric, and nothing gives her more pleasure than breathing new life and creating exclusive designs from limited fabrics. Keeping heritage alive and hand crafting pieces with an innovative twist, Madia & Matilda share a passion for beautifully created clothing which prolongs the life of a garment leading to a less wasteful world. What’s not to love!
Here are a few of our favourite pieces for summer:
We love a great statement piece and it’s more unusual to make it your trousers or skirt, which is why we love these cropped satin trousers. They are incredibly elegant and can be dressed down for the day which a simple t shirt tucked in, or dressed up for the evening with a silk cami.
This beautiful linen blouse is a sophisticated one and a vintage favourite here in the YCB offices. Easily paired with jeans or a chic pencil skirt, it’s a versatile item which deserves pride of place in any wardrobe!
The sleeveless trend came very much back into fashion when some of our favourite style icons incorporated with their wardrobes. Both Jenner and Hadid sisters love long sleeveless coats and so do we! This number comes in beige is a classic colour perfect for summer and early autumn.
One of our favourite trends, which will forever be great for spring and summer fashion, is the Boho Chic trend. Paired with a maxi skirt, this blouse is the perfect addition for anyone who prefers a more relaxed style, the boat neck is flattering on everyone and the ruffled details is a beautiful touch which makes the top that bit more special.
We all love a show stopper of a dress, and this one is no exception. This glamorous maxi dress will guarantee you the spotlight. It’s rare to find such a beautiful dress which is also environmentally friendly and really celebrates craftsmanship, which is just another talking point.
