The Suit Dress Trend Will Be Everywhere This Summer

This summer is full of interesting trends (surfer chic, bicycle shorts, and those gosh darn crochet bags are back) but one more formal, the structured trend is the suit dress or on special occasions the tuxedo dress. It is not a flowy summer dress but boy is it fun and it looks great. And with Meghan Markle as one of its biggest champions you can bet it is fashion gold. But she isn’t the only one rocking this trend and you can too.

Women wearing suits has been a powerful fashion move for ages but making it a dress adds a special feminine touch.

Meghan Markle

Markle is the biggest champion of the suit dress trend. She has done it all from trench coat dresses to suit dresses. Her Grace Wales Bonner trench dress has become iconic and she wore it when she and Prince Harry presented Baby Archie to the world. She also wore a blush pink sleeveless trench by Canadian brand House of Nonie earlier in the year with matching stilettos and Mulberry England Clifton Shoulder Bag in blush calfskin.

Rihanna

As part of the launch of her new much-anticipated Fenty line Rihanna wore a white tuxedo dress. “This is a moment in history,” she said. “It’s a big deal for me and my entire generation.”

Shailene Woodley

Woodley went for the full-on tuxedo trench coat ensemble by Christian Dior Haute Couture at the premiere of Rocketman.

Julia Roberts

The Oscar winner was seen filming a commercial in a lovely pink blazer dress.

If you want to try the trend yourself this option from Revolve is a real fun one. Or this sleeveless one from Saks Fifth Avenue in white or black.
