5 Things You Can do to Make Your New Years Eve Party a Great One

Whilst this year’s New Years Eve might not be the same as previous years; no big gatherings, fireworks on the Thames and kisses once 12 o’clock hits, it most definitely won’t have to be a boring start to 2021. We teamed up with the folks over at Bingoscanner to give you these five tips to make your New Years Eve party, however intimate, a great one.

1. Focus on the things that are still possible

Every family and group of friends has its traditions. These could be very elaborate parties, big dinners with friends or organising a game night on the last day of the year. Obviously, a lot of what we are used to doing is currently put on hold. Look for alternatives that do justice to your tradition.

Discuss in family, group of friends and others the adaptations of parties and traditions. Provide a positive conversation in which you briefly reflect on what is not possible, but where you mainly look at what is possible. Stay in touch and be of support to each other. Make up new traditions, surprise each other and be considerate.

2. Be bold and go all out

It’s probably safe to say that we all saved quite a bit of money over the past year with the inability to go out as much as we normally would have. Use it as an excuse to go all out in making your stay-at-home party an unforgettable one: have a three course dinner delivered, get yourself an expensive bottle of champagne for once and treat yourself to that new fabulous outfit you have been eyeing up for a while (because who said you can’t dress to impress without leaving the front door?).

3. Appreciate the time at home

If there’s one thing we likely have all learned in 2020, is that we have gotten way too used to always rushing about rather than to sit down and relax as often as we should. There’s nothing lost when celebrating New Years from your sofa for once. Appreciate the time you’re saving and get to spend at home with your closest family. Let’s be fair, we’re secretly happy we don’t have to cross half the city on ridiculously high heels and can trade them for a pair of comfy slippers.

4. Take it outside

If you can’t withhold the temptation to get a party going, organise a gathering outside. Build a campfire, plug in some heaters, get everyone a blanket and light the BBQ. Put up some decorations or even hang a disco ball. This is a perfect way to celebrate with a select group of friends and family whilst still going into the new year safe and healthy.

5. Online together

Zoom meetings don’t have to be exclusive for those WFH days. Whether it is family that lives abroad or closeby, having an online party is an ideal way to celebrate with as many people as you wish, no matter what Boris decides. You can even take it one step further by playing online games together, learning those famous TikTok dances or ordering food simultaneously whilst watching a feel-good movie.

No matter what tier you’re stuck in once a new year hits at 00:00, there’s plenty of ways to say goodbye to 2020 with a bang whilst having a blast.
