Kim Kardashian

The queen of Kontour, it is not surprising that Kim Kardashian makes it into our ‘iconic make up looks’ hall of fame.

Contouring can be a risky business. Those who have fairer skin tones can easily look ‘muddy’ whereas those with darker skins can run the risk of looking like the makeup is not blended out.

To achieve the contouring look, the fool proof method is to start light and build. From the top of your ear to the middle of the pupil, draw a neat line and continue to blend out. Continue to draw a line across the fore head and under the chin. Our biggest hack with contouring is once you have finished blending…..blend some more.

Twiggy

The queen of Mod, Twiggy initiated timeless trends that play an instrumental role in the makeup looks that we use today including the cut crease and statement lashes.

False lashes on the lower lid can be a nightmare for even the most skilled makeup artist. To work around using them, apply lashings of mascara to the lower lid ensuring that each layer is dry before applying the next. When applying the last layer, gather a section of the lower lashes at a time and hold together for 5 seconds with tweezers. Continue this method until the lower lash is complete. No more fighting with falsies!

David Bowie

One of Bowies iconic characters, Aladdin Sane is an image that is recognised on a global scale. To emulate the look, drawing a stencil of the lightning bolt is key. Once the stencil is complete, lightly draw the outline with concealer. This will ensure that any mistakes are forgiven and that you can move the stencil to fit the shape of the face. Once the lightning bolt is complete, fill in the lines with either face paint or eyeshadow.

Kylie Jenner

The nations Kardashian/Jenner obsession shows no signs of slowing and Kylie Jenner is setting worldwide trends with her make up line and own looks.

Kylie is a major fan of overlining the lips. There is a fine line between ensuring that the lips look fuller and looking like a blow-up doll. To ensure that you invest in a look that suits you, begin with a neutral colour that does not over power the face. Line the lips as usual and then gradually begin to overline the sides of the both of the top lip and the whole of the bottom lip. This ensures that you keep the cupids bow.

Bridgette Bardot

Bridgette Bardot is famed for her smoky eyed look. However, this look can be difficult to achieve. Overkill can result in you looking like a Halloween extra and not enough can not achieve the desired dramatic effect. It is key to build the look up and blend blend blend. However, the most crucial steps of all is to add an eyeshadow primer to your routine as well as a transitional shade. Your transitional shade should be 2 shades darker than your eyeshadow primer and blended along the crease of the eye. This will aid in blending darker shades out and will soon become a staple in your routine.

Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe set the trend for the red lip. Strong, empowering and feminine the red lip can alter a look in an instant.

To gain the Marilyn Monroe look, the actress did not use one red lip shade but 5! To gain the look use a darker shade of red on the outer corners and the lighter shades in the middle. This adds depth to the lip and ensures that the lips look full and plump.

Mia

Chanel 637 in Malice caused quite the stir when Pulp Fiction launched. A red nail can be a nightmare to apply. It is vital that a clear base coat is applied to the nail to avoid staining the nail. It is also useful to have a cotton bud soaked in nail vanish remover. This means that any mishaps will not cause a drama.
