The blogs might be going cray for K-Stew and R-Patz, but believe it or not, there were events (and red carpet dresses) other than Twilight premieres.
Keira Knightley has been flying under the radar for a while, but she stepped back into the style spotlight on Wednesday. At the LA premiere of Anna Karenina, the British star wowed in a bespoke Erdem gown and glamorous train. Mint green isn’t a colour that we often see on the red carpet, so it’s a refreshing change from the sea of monochrome and metallics.
This outfit is all about contrasts: the delicate floral embroidery is given a modern update with custom-made pockets, while a Barbie-pink lip nicely offsets her romantic updo. Winged eyeliner added an extra punch to her simple and elegant ensemble.
Contrasting pieces from your work wardrobe with your weekend one is always a good way to mix up your regular outfits. If you’re looking to dress up your trusted jeans-and tee-combo, add a structured blazer or a power-red lip to make a statement. If you’re failsafe LBD is looking a little tired, dress it down one day with a vintage denim jacket and some velvet slippers.
And take a cue from Keira here – if you’ve got a show-stopping outfit already, don’t go overboard with the jewellery. Classic prints and bold makeup usually don’t need anything extra – they stand out all on their own.
