Geneva tourism

Press trip to Geneva

This summer, take an extended weekend and immerse yourself in everything that this European fantasy gem has to offer. Shopping at the luxury boutiques of Rue du Rhone? Check. Taking in the history with walking tours? Check. Exquisite restaurants with breath-taking views? Check. Elegant hotels for the professional to stay in (and maybe enjoy a fabulous cocktail or two)? Check. Stunning vineyards to explore? Check. Check. Check. Yes, there’s simply so much to do that it’s hard to know where to start! Fear not, team YCB are on hand to help. We recently experienced our own mini-vacation in Geneva with Geneva Tourism, and we just couldn’t wait to spread the word and give you a few suggestions of things to do. Here are our top picks for the full Geneva experience:

Brunch at Les Halles de l’Ile

We agree that nothing gets us out of bed faster than the scent of roasting coffee beans, so why not follow our lead and head to Les Halles de l’Ile for brunch? This gorgeous, rustic Brasserie located on the river is the perfect location to take your mind off of the hectic London lifestyle. The only way we like our eggs in the morning is accompanied by the views of glistening water and ducks swimming past (and our precious coffee cup of course).

Drink & Picnic at the Parc des Eaux Vives

Parc des Eaux Vives GenevaIf you’re after a more indulgent breakfast or picnic in the green grass soaking up the sunshine, what could possibly be more indulgent than champagne before midday? We experienced a gastronomic picnic accompanied by our favourite fizz located in the stunning Parc des Eaux Vives. If you don’t arrive until lunch, the lobster shall not disappoint.

Light lunch at Tag’s Café

Feeling a little peckish again? Take a leaf out of our book and enjoy a lunch at Tag’s Café located in Hotel N’vY; a trendy eatery with a New York vibe. With touchscreen tables, décor by a renowned graffiti artist Meres One and a delicious yet simple cuisine, Tag’s Café is an urban experience in the heart of the metropolis.

Dinner in GenevaDinner at Cottage Café

For dinner, we headed to the cosy Cottage Café. Offering tapas and mezzes from 6 and fine wines, this little rustic gem is a must-see for your mini vacation, and perfect for a homely feel with delicious cuisine from around the world – our favourite was the chorizo.

Activity suggestions: Relax at Bains des Pâquis

The city may be thriving, but don’t forget you’re here to relax. We did exactly that at Bains des Pâquis, a ‘city beach’ located just across from the Jet D’Eau. There’s a picturesque view of the lake and swathes of avid city tanners placed on the promenade. There you can experience seasonal activities like jetty jumping, sandpits and slides – bringing together the bustling city with the refreshing seaside. Who doesn’t love having the best of both worlds?
