5 Fun Facts About the Oscars You Probably Didn’t Know

This week we celebrated the 90th Oscars. Of course, the fashion was amazing as always but this year the ceremony took on a more serious tone as the presence of the #TimesUp and #MeToo movements were heavily acknowledged. But let’s take a look at some of Oscar’s fun facts, thanks to WalletHub’s 2018 Oscars Facts report as well as what celebrities got to take home in their swag bags.

Total cost of the Oscars ceremony = $44 million

Cost of a 30-second spot during the Oscars = $2.6 million

Cost of the 16,500-square-foot Oscars red carpet = $24.7K

Current value of the 24-karat gold-plated Oscar statuette = $900

And now for the swag. Oscar swag bags are legendary and this year was no exception. This year’s goodies included:

A week-long stay at Koloa Landing Resort, a five star luxury resort, at Poipu in Hawaii

It wasn’t all expenses but you know who can afford a trip to Hawaii, an Oscar nominated celebrity.

A 12-night luxury Safari trip in Tanzania.

Yup the theme of this year’s swag bag was travel apparently. Did we mention it was worth $40,000?

A week-long spa trip at the Golden Door in Southern California.

Hey celebs are busy too and if they don’t have time to go to Africa or Hawaii at least they can make it to a spa in SoCal.

A Bluetooth Speaker (that levitates)

This is absolutely necessary.

10 Sessions with a personal trainer

Again, because celebrities can’t afford this.
