Resolutions Don’t Work – Change Your Thoughts to Achieve Your Goals in 2018

Change your thinking to make permanent changes

According to US News Magazine 80% of New Year resolutions fail, this means that as much as you hope to make this coming year different, to get fit, stop smoking, lose weight or whatever changes you keep telling yourself you should, would, could make – you are unlikely to follow through.

And the reason why? Because you are not actually in control of your thoughts, and before you grab your tinfoil hat and head for the cellar, the truth is your behaviour is being controlled by your subconscious mind. The part of your brain that drives practically everything you do, and if you really want to make changes, you have to change your subconscious and the limiting beliefs that sabotage your best intentions.

Instead of beating up on yourselves when your resolutions fail you can use this season of new beginnings to literally change your mind.

It is easier said than done to change core beliefs, and until you work out or uncover what is really driving your behaviour and bad habits, no amount of good intentions and positive thinking will stop us reaching for the chocolate when you really should be heading off to the gym. It’s not something you can generally do on your own though and it is a good idea to seek out someone that can work with you to make these changes.

Mark Bristow: An Emotional Freedom Technique practitioner and coach says; “Your conscious mind is where your logical thinking sits and is responsible for your willpower. However, the conscious mind is only responsible for around 5 – 10% of what anyone does. The rest of the time we are on autopilot, can you imagine if you had to consciously think about every single thing you did? It would drive us nuts. Everything else you do to survive or excel is run by the subconscious, the problem is when we have some bad subconscious programming that is sabotages our conscious behaviour but with the help of certain healing modalities we can change these”.

Mark works with people from all over the world on changing deep seated issues that keep them from living their best lives: “Fortunately, there are lots of tools available to help us rapidly uncover your limiting beliefs and replace them with ones that will help us achieve your goals. Techniques like NLP, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Matrix Re-imprinting get right down to the 80% of your brain that’s in charge (the subconscious) so you can make changes”, says Mark.

To make changes you first need to discover what your core beliefs are, Mark works with clients from all over the world to help them clear old beliefs that are holding them back. He has helped clients resolve issues around financial blocks, eating disorders, phobias, fear of flying and more. The techniques he uses can help anyone and the results can be life changing.

Mark uses a number of techniques including NLP Neuro Linguistic Programming , EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and Matrix Reimprinting, all highly successful in getting to the core of the issue.

Some of these techniques mentioned are comparatively new, but EFT or tapping as some people call it, works on the same principles as acupuncture and when you use them you can see life changing results.

So, if you are going to do one thing this year, work on changing the limiting beliefs that are holding you back, and when you do you’ll be amazed at how easy it will be to stick to those resolutions and make the changes you want.

“The message for 2018 is ‘change your beliefs to change your life for the better’. Instead of writing out New Year’s resolutions, and using up a lot of energy in trying to keep them, seek out ways to make changes in your subconscious thinking, so it’s a big yes to a new year, new you, but from the inside out, everything else will fall into place after that” says Mark.
