The Essentials: Gina Brar, Fashion & Beauty Editor at Your Coffee Break

Gina Brar - Fashion Editor Your Coffee BreakAs most successful women will tell you, the key to a great presentation is all in the preparation. Ensuring your PowerPoint is on point and your notes are up to scratch is just part of the prep and every business woman worth her salt knows that you can’t deliver a successful pitch if your own appearance isn’t up to scratch. A question we’re often asked during press interviews is what we wear for important meetings and presentations and my answer is always to start with the bag.

As a Fashion & Beauty Editor, I’m always working at a thousand miles per minute. On any given day I can go from breakfast meetings with brands to press launches and client presentations, so it’s safe to say I have to be prepared for any number of situations. As well as my laptop, my diary and iPhone, I also carry a camera, a magazine (or two), my purse, an umbrella, possibly a change of shoes and a fair few samples of whichever beauty products I might be testing at the time. Almost too much to gracefully fit into one bag right.

Isla Rule - Mae laptop handbag

Which is why when I know I have to look the business, I always reach for my favourite bag from Isla Rule; The Mae. Not only is it made of the finest leather, the interior is lined in a beautiful Amy Butler print, keeping things smart with a dash of personality. The bag is deceptively spacious so I can carry my long list of essentials without looking as though I’m going away for the weekend. A large double compartment allows for my precious MacBook Pro to fit comfortably and safely in the padded section whilst the other half covers all the other necessities.

I particularly love that the outer compartment is large enough to fit an A4 file, ensuring that any press releases or contracts that I need carry remain in tact and crease free. If like me you’re forever losing your keys in the depths of your bag, the Mae’s clever key chain ensures they are always easily within reach.
