The perfect winter trend is back on high rotation this season. Yep, we’re talking about corduroy.
The cooler cousin to velvet, a literal nostalgic feel and a true winter warmer, cord is making a major comeback.
As we know, Alexa Chung is a major fan of cord (her Madewell shorts were one of the best sellers) and she nails it here in her usual boyish-yet-preppy style. Actress Sophie Lowe brought the trend Down Under at this year’s Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week Australia with a statement overcoat and cord sleeves. Meanwhile back in 2011, Jessica Biel bravely stepped out in a head-to-toe corduroy suit. Hmm, that might be taking it a bit too far…
For a 2012 update, mix in some chic cord with bomber jackets, flirty A-line skirts or even the original corduroy trousers. Stick to basic shades – work back oxblood, black and beige cord with graphic prints or neon hues.
