Mastering The Modern Updo With The Chiswick Salon

Mastering the modern updo with The Chiswick Salon

Rachel Zoe SS14

When it comes to styling your tresses, the updo has taken something of a backseat of late. Somehow too reminiscent of both the hair of your high school prom and your mother all at once, there’s been a bit of a step away from the formal updo in favour of the fabulous, bouncy blowout instead. However, if the SS14 catwalks are anything to go by, it’s time to pull out the bobby pins and hairspray as the updo is back! Far from rigid, sleek styles, this season is all about slightly undone, softer looks that are super feminine and flattering.

Our go to for beautiful hair, The Chiswick Salon, are well versed in creating fabulous, modern styles, from Bridal right through to formal events. And with the summer ahead of us, promising an array of formal events, the opportunities for showcasing a sophisticated do are endless.

The salon caters for everything from Black Tie, Ascot, Film Premieres, Polo to Fashion Week so they’re expertly equipped to create a gorgeous do that’s not only on trend but designed to flatter your face. Looking to the catwalk for inspiration, the salon can great beautiful

Rachel Zoe and Giles Deacon both sent models with messy, mussed up plaits down their catwalks for SS14 and with a touch of artful teasing and pinning, a pinned soft braid makes lovely, freeing hair up look.

If you’re enjoying the androgyny trend but are not quite sure how to translate it into a formal event, opt for a deep side part, swept into a low bun. Very elegant but still channeling the sleekness and nonchalance of the trend.

As the Erdem and Temperley shows represented, an achingly pretty dress demands equally compelling hair, and the designer complemented their feminine styles with a windswept, ethereal looks with mussed up tresses artfully piled onto the head and pinned. A little teasing to create volume at the crown coupled with shine spray take the look from messy to a delicately compiled style.

If you’re still unconvinced by hair up like this you can rest easy as mermaid waves and retro curls are also huge trends for this season and the salon can create you gorgeous curls that will last all day, using a powerful Cloudnine iron.

As well as advising you on the best possible style for your occasion and more importantly, that frame of your face, The Chiswick Salon will advise you on preparing your hair before hand so it’s in the best possible condition. Whether you need a touch of colour to add gloss, a treatment to give your locks that extra lustre or extensions to add a little oomph and thickness, they’re wholly placed to give you the best possible head of hair before coiffing you to perfection. If you have a special accessory to incorporate, such a jewelled hair comb or a fabulous fascinator, they’ll help fit it and advise how to keep your hair looking flawless all day.

The beauty of wearing your hair up is that, not only does it exude sophistication, but it elongates your neck and forces you to hold your head a little higher, to stand a little taller. Much like slipping on a gorgeous pair of stilettos, the effects are mesmerising, whether you’re wearing a sweeping chiffon gown or a Le Smoking Tuxedo.
