FIGO Stratford: The Authentic Italian Eatery with a Modern-Day Twist

If you’re looking to escape the usual this weekend, pencil a trip to Stratford into your itinerary. Just a twenty minute tube ride from Oxford Circus, Stratford is the answer for those seeking a wholesome day filled with sight-seeing and retail therapy, as well as an evening that leaves a lasting impression. Whether you’ve walked up an appetite after touring the landmarks of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park or you’re on the hunt for the perfect wine and dine spot before an night of entertainment at Westfield shopping centre, we have the perfect spot for you.

On Endeavour Square you’ll stumble across a glamorous Italian eatery with a warm atmosphere, hearty portions, and Italian home-style food. In other words, an exquisite ending to a smashing trip, or the perfect start to an impressive date-night. FIGO restaurant is the place to go to relax, refuel, and relish in delicious food and drinks.

From the traditional menu filled with fresh ingredients to the in-depth knowledge shared by the waiters, FIGO restaurant has managed to master the modern-day, fine-dining aesthetic without losing their traditional Italian warmth. In their own words, FIGO was born out of love for all things Italian and a desire to offer “Great classic dishes, served right”.

FIGO’s Stratford restaurant was founded in 2019 as a result of this mission to create the perfect Italian restaurant. The stunning interior matches a vibrant atmosphere for a special date-night and an evening to remember. The shelves of the extravagant bar are lined with an extensive range of liquors to create your perfect cocktail. Opposite, you’ll find an open plan kitchen that allows the delicious smell of freshly cooked pizza to waft through the restaurant. Before you arrive at your table, peer into the glass cases of Italian dried meats, sumptuous cheese wheels and aged wines (and don’t forget to take a picture for your pantry inspo.)

It comes as no surprise that FIGO is a much-loved local for both Londoners and home-sick Italians alike. The modern menu consists of traditional cocktails with a twist (the hazelnut espresso martini is a must) whilst boasting a wide range of dishes that are influenced and inspired by the many regions of Italy. The friendly waiters will encourage you to try some plates that you can share, however, after one bite you may find yourself reluctant to pass over the spoon.

What would we recommend? To begin, opt for the melt-in-your mouth scallops paired with creamy pea purée and fresh salmon eggs alongside cooked to perfection muscles in a light tomato sauce to whet the appetite.

For a traditional Italian main course, look no further than the perfectly al dente spaghetti mare. For a lighter option, the grilled sea bass in an airy bisque cream will leave your stomach satisfied, but your taste buds wanting more.

Finally, what would an evening of Italian dining be without an indulgent dessert to finish. The plate of profiteroles is the perfect way to treat yourself. A pistachio cream spills out of the centre as you slice the light pastry in half with your spoon. Accompanied is a side dish of mouth-watering melted chocolate to drizzle on top- a modern take on an old Italian classic.

As mentioned, the wait staff have a strong knowledge about Italian cuisine, the kind that leaves you feeling safe in their hands. Therefore, when our lovely server suggested the house white as the perfect pairing for our fish-based dishes, we took his word for it and weren’t disappointed. What’s more, he was able to tell us about the history and tradition behind each dish we ordered which of course, added an extra touch to an already special evening. For anybody with an intolerance or allergy, fear not. The waiters listen carefully and the chefs are flexible.

In conclusion, it’s needless to say that here at YCB, FIGO now sits firmly at the top of our list of places to go for an authentic Italian with a modern-day twist. Don’t take it from us- discover the hype for yourself and book a reservation today. Treat yourself and a special someone to an unforgettable evening filled with fantastic vibes and fresh, delicious food!
