Tory Burch’s 2019 Resort Collection is Inspired by this Classic Dreamy Novella

You won’t see it in stores for a bit but the Tory Burch 2019 Resort Collection is absolutely dreamy. It’s no wonder considering Tory Burch says a big part of the inspiration was the beautiful illustrations in Antoine de Saint-Exupéry novella “The Little Prince.” We see this in the grand shirt collars, long skirts, peasant blouses, over exaggerated sweaters with graphics and bold stripes.

“There’s a nod to my favorite book, The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, in a watercolor print we’ve named Daydream. We updated the classics with special details — like the perfect white cotton shirt, now with a scalloped or elongated collar, or an easy denim dress, with a ruffled placket,” Tory Burch said in a statement about the line.

Though there is a fantastical element to the clothes for the most part the items as well as the accessories which include tote bags and Birkenstock-type sandals were minimalist. “Accessories continue the less-is-more mood: easy totes, flat sandals and lemon- and clementine-shaped pendants,” said Burch. In creamy off whites and blue, these are the kind of clothes you can relax in.

We also see that Little Prince influence on a pair of loafers and some exquisite earrings in the collection (stars and moons included.) Burch told WWD, It’s been a work in progress getting it to where it is now. Less is more, with less product and more product with integrity.”
