This Spring’s Most Romantic Fashion Designer

Normally the month of March is filled with blooming daffodils, easter baskets and early evening walks in the fresh air. But the UK has seen not one but two dramatic spells of storms and snow flurries which has left the nation cold, and desperate for the spring sunshine to make an appearance.

We may not have the high temperatures just yet, but at least we can start planning ahead as this seasons’s fashion trends keep us inspired and dreaming of warmer days. We love making the transition from winter to spring, and there’s something so exciting about packing away your cosy knitwear in favour of day dresses, floaty blouses and lightweight blazers.

We were even more excited when came across the new SS18 collection from L By Lisa called Le Jardin Secret. Inspired by the children’s book “The Secret Garden” and a family visit to Versailles, the designer, Lisa Johnson, has created a new and luxurious designer range which will take pride of place in any woman’s wardrobe.

Lisa Johnson is a London based designer known for her signature style of ultra feminine dresses layered with unstructured under-pinnings of lingerie. Born in Wales, she has lived in London and New York and has worked for fashion legends like Vivienne Westwood and Bella Freud. Her style is eclectic and her pieces as always dreamy, romantic and aim to inspire and energise women around the world.

The collection itself is full of romantic, feminine touches and it embodies everything we love about heading into spring and summer. We’ve picked some of our favourite pieces from the brand new range to show you how much we love them, and to get you ready to revamp your own winter wardrobe.

First, the Camellia pink dress is an ankle length, floaty number which has a flattering off the shoulder detail. The pink lace is traditional but the unusual neckline makes it a little more modern and youthful in appearance. The gathering on the bust and flared sleeves make this classic style a little different, which makes it easy to wear and stylish too.

For a different colour, the Camellia dress is also available in amber which is great for those of us who don’t feel comfortable in pink. We think this velvet version is a little more edgy and would look just as cool at a wedding as it would worn with a leather jacket and fedora hat at a festival.

The Primrose dress is ideal for those of us who prefer to keep our arms covered, as this features subtle puffed shoulders which is a testament to Lisa’s eye for designer details which you won’t find on the high street. Luxurious and romantic, this dress will be sure to give you the wow factor at your next event.

Nothing says spring like a splash of colour, so the coral selection in the range will give you that much-needed oomph. The Dahlia dress is lace lined and features a sheer white panel section across the waist and shoulders. The layered capped sleeves and hem detailing showcases the lace fabric and adds something special to this beautiful dress.

Also in coral, the Hydrangea dress with spot tulle sleeve looks like something out of a fairy tale, with the spotty sleeves giving off some series garden goddess vibes which we love!

For a more monochrome look this Fruit Organza Cherry Plum is a fab choice. It strikes the balance of being feminine but not too ‘girly’ and boasts an unusual floral pattern and structured shoulders, creating a striking silhouette.

The collection also has a few selected pieces of loungewear, like this simple Black slip. Made from the finest silk, making this elegant nightwear piece almost too good to wear to bed! The dotted tulle hem is unlike anything we’ve ever seen as part of a slip like this, so we think its well worth investing in as a staple piece for your lingerie collection.

The Butterfly Lace camisole top is another stunning addition to the loungewear range which comes with matching silk bottoms.

The butterfly lace and intricate bows are truly eye-catching, so at least you can stay indoors feeling glamorous until spring decides to make an appearance.
