The Sleeper beach appropriate loungewear

Isn’t being on vacation an incredible feeling? The luxury of waking up with the whole day ahead of you, with warmer climes and endless possibilities. Opening those balcony doors to a balmy, warm breeze that rustles the fine net curtains as you pad about your hotel room, munching on a room service croissant and sipping your coffee. Vacation is your time to kick back, relax and take yourself out of the rat race for a while, so if you’re going to have a leisurely wake up call you might as well do it in style. Roll out of bed, onto the beach and beyond in our new brand du jour: The Sleeper.

Forget athleisure, The Sleeper takes loungewear to a new and more stylish level. Founded in 2014 by ex-fashion editors Kate Zubarieva and Asya Varetsa. The Sleeper is essentially ‘walking sleepwear’ – cotton pyjama that can be worn to go for a walk or travel in, paired with a tuxedo or jeans, and streetwear robes that can replace trenchcoats and summer coats. Thanks to Kate and Asya’s strong knowledge and passion for the industry, The Sleeper is both universal and classic, making quality nightwear a ‘must have’ in a modern girl’s wardrobe, with the new spring-summer collection suited perfectly to home and the beach

The Sleeper

The SS16 collection from The Sleeper is a modern must have, with lightweight bare shoulders shirt dresses and pyjama suits with 90’s style high waisted shorts. Fronted by Tanya Ruban, the collection is a little Clueless meets Costa Rica. We can already see the short suit paired with a Chloe-esque sandal on those warm summer nights a la blogger Lucy Williams. Or the lustworthy off shoulder dresses on Emily Ratajkowski. The Sleeper already has a huge following, championed by Vogue Italia editor Franca Sozzani and fashionistas including Mira Duma, Leandra Medine and Eleonora Carisi. All women possessing a completely unique style and making The Sleeper their own in the big city and on the beach.

Linen shirt dresses and pyjamas are perfect to wear at home and for a hike at the beach. This is largely because The Sleeper garments have a classic and slightly oversized cut, so they will easily complement any wardrobe. In an array of lush colours, from milky white and deep blues to bold mustard and olive green, the collection places a stronger focus on linen as a key material in keeping with the more relaxed vacation theme. “This season we decided to go ahead and create loungewear-collection, which would fit ideally for both wearing it at home and at the beach” — said Asya. “We really like the hippie aesthetic with its distinctive elements such as bare shoulders and natural materials. Because it is about summer, happiness and freedom” — complements Kate.

It’s an age old trend, underwear as outerwear, but The Sleeper is something else. With super soft silk slips to take you from day to date night and the pyjama suit available in a wide variety of colours, The Sleeper has got you covered for pretty much every eventuality! Plus just imagine those muted tones against golden skin and sandy toes this summer. You could crave a vacation just looking at the pieces in the SS16 collection. It’s easy to see the girls’ background in the fashion industry as well, as there are notable influences that make each piece transferrable in the modern woman’s wardrobe, taking away any negative work wear connotations. Plus once you’re out of the office you can head for drinks in your Sleeper get up.. There is no end to the fashionable possibilities you can create for yourself thanks to The Sleeper, but you had better act fast because Team YCB are already forming an orderly queue!
