Office appropriate accessories for Autumn/Winter
It seemed as if once it turned to fall, the internet almost exploded with excitement. Leaves, candles, bonfires and all the cute clothes you’ve been dying to wear since the beginning of summer. Besides wearing your printed jeans, plaid shirt, patterned tights, and your snuggliest of sweaters, autumn and winter is all the perfect time to accessorise! Scarves, jewellery, hats… the list is almost as long as the line for pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks. But which accessories are appropriate for the office and which ones should be saved for a weekend coffee run with friends? In order to make sure you’re all fashionable and ready to head to the office in the coming months, we asked Wissam Youssef, the founder of Waynfee, for all the best advice on office appropriate accessories.
Waynfee is an app dedicated to helping shoppers easily and efficiently search online shops for new deals, meaning you can shop whenever you want (perfect for those lazy lunch breaks) and that you’ll be able to get everything on your wish list for the best prices. But what exactly should be on your wish list? Youssef suggests statement jewellery, a new jacket and purse, all of which are perfect for spicing up an office outfit, without being too over the top.
If there’s one item you can have a little more fun with, it’s your coat. While you do want it to be modest enough for those few minutes you walk in and out of the office, coffee in hand, for the most part you’ll only be wearing it on your commute, so feel free to really let your personality shine!
Try a pink belted coat, like this Betsey Johnson one from T.K. Maxx or this lined parka from Matalan. A classic trench is also a great choice for a coat that’s appropriate to wear to a coffee meeting with a client or boss. When looking for your seasonal jacket, make sure to focus on the fit—you don’t want to be swallowed up by fabric and end up losing your shape entirely.
When it comes to office appropriate jewellery for the fall and winter, feel free to mix metals and layer a few different pieces. As long as the rest of your outfit is on the simpler side, your jewellery won’t distract for your overall professional look and will still give a touch of sparkle to your ensemble.
Another perfectly office appropriate accessory for the upcoming season is a scarf. They’re chic, warm, and if you pick the right fabric and colour will keep you looking office ready (and not like you’re bundled up to go skiing). Try sticking with nudes, pastel pinks, dark greys and navys—these will add dimension to your outfit but won’t make you stick out like a sore thumb. Opt for lighter fabrics over heavy wools and you’ll be good to go. If you’re still having trouble finding the right one, try searching on Waynfee—the app helps identify items that are attractive to the user so you don’t have to go searching through endless racks to find your perfect accessory.
