Meet Your New Power Color: Yellow

Meet your new power color: Yellow

yellow is the new power color

When you think of power colors, yellow doesn’t necessarily come to mind. Red and navy blue are more along the lines of classic power colors with their boldness, but yellow is pushing forward. Look at Shailene Woodley’s stunning yellow gown she wore to the premiere of her sure to be a hit film “The Fault in Our Stars”. And who can forget Michelle William’s dramatic yellow Vera Wang gown she wore to the Academy Awards in 2006? Yellow is the new power color.

And though the color red literally raises your adrenaline, yellow inspires original thought and inquisitiveness. It also creates enthusiasm and awakens your inner confidence. Kat Thomsen at Glamour, is truly on a campaign to crown “yellow as the new power color” and she believes it is the summer color that looks good on everyone.

So how do you wear this new, fun power color?

1. Pair it with bold accessories

You can wear bold accessories like a big statement necklace or a leopard print bag (like this one from Clare Vivier) but don’t overshadow your yellow.

2. Fit it well

With yellow, you really want it to fit perfectly and show off your figure. If it is too big and blousy, you risk looking like an extra in “Gone with the Wind”.

3. Rock it in a small way

If you are a little trepidacious about wearing yellow then start small. Try a necklace or a fun clutch or some cute yellow wedges.

How will you be sporting yellow this season?
