Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize 2013

The 2013 Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize was launched yesterday, March 27th, and the UK launch event was held at The Dorchester in London with the following judging panel: Daniella Helayel, Caroline Issa, Stephen Jones, Nicholas Oakwell, Rupert Sanderson, and Stephen Webste

Established in 2010, the annual prize was developed to discover emerging fashion talent and is the first award of it’s kind developed by the Dorchester Collection hotels. Following the worldwide interest the prize has received from the fashion industry, it has been expanded to include emerging design talent for ready-to-wear or premium accessory brands. The prize will now be awarded in countries where there are Dorchester Collection hotels: France, Italy, Switzerland, the US and here in the United Kingdom.

“We’re thrilled to continue to support upcoming designers and launch the 2013 Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize with a new international format. Our aim is to continue to attract a high standard of talent; it’s been rewarding to follow the success of previous winners and finalists, knowing that the prize has helped them to make that next step to global success and recognition,” states Christopher Cowdray, chief executive officer of Dorchester Collection.

Previous winners of the prize include Thomas Tait, Anndra Need and Augustin Teboul have received critical acclaim for their subsequent collections and received features in famous publications such as The New York Times and Harper’s Bazaar UK.

A shortlist of five designers will be invited to stage a show at the grand final on 29th October 2013 at The Dorchester. The prize includes £25,000, a two-night stay at a Dorchester Collection hotel and as of this year, the opportunity to receive one-to-one mentoring from a selection of the judges.

Entrants for the 2013 Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize must be based in the UK, France, Italy, Switzerland or the US, have an established design business that has been running for two to five years and each applicant must submit a video entry presenting his or her collection, inspirations and design philosophy.
