So Great! Fashion Houses Prada And Miu Miu Make Their Contributions To The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby will be hitting the big screens this spring and we are already obsessing over the luxe fashion, and Leo of course… Carey Mulligan is one lucky lady.

F. Scott Fitzgerald’s hugely popular novel, The Great Gatsby, is due to be adapted to film for the sixth time, by director Baz Luhrmann. The film, which is due to be released in May this year, will feature some of our fave celebs, including hottie Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan.

The Great Gatsby will also make an awesome impression in the fashion stakes, with announcements that the great fashion-houses Prada and Miu Miu are to assist with the 1920s costumes.

Miuccia Prada has just released exclusive sketches of some of the costume designs for the film. Us lucky fashion, film and Carey Mulligan fans, are all now privy to the stunning outfits that we will see Carey Mulligan donning, as the flapper-girl Daisy Buchanan.

Miuccia Prada has certainly come through with her designs, which truly evoke the glamorous 1920s style. The sketches that she has released feature chiffon, silks, crystals, pearls, fur and more… every girl’s dream! More specifically, if you look at the sketched you’ll see two gorgeous blue, sequined shift-dresses and a shift-dress with large, gold sequins and a stylish fur-stole. Our favourite piece has to be the most characteristic of the era in our opinion; a pastel mint-green ball gown with heavy-Swarovski-crystal embellishment, and beaded-fringing.

Luxe is the main word to describe these costumes, and that’s what we love about them!  Carey Mulligan is one lucky lady indeed, and we can’t wait to see the full range of costumes by Miu Miu and Prada in The Great Gatsby , premiering later this year. May couldn’t come any sooner!
