Business Travel: NYC Edition

New York City is a top-rated destination for business trips. Read on to learn everything you need about business travel in NYC.

If you are in the business world, you will likely find yourself in New York City at some point in your career for a business trip. New York City is a big place, and getting lost trying to find your way around is easy. Below we will go through some of the most important things to know before you go on a business trip to the Big Apple.

New York Airports

First, it is a good idea to be aware of the main ways you can travel to New York City. Three main airports are commonly used for people visiting the city on a business trip. There is the John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), the Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) LaGuardia Airport (LGA). If you want to get into Manhatten the fastest, then the airport in Newark will be your best choice.

If you want to make the business trip as comfortable as possible, then you can fly using a private jet charter, which will make the journey much smoother. There will also be less of a wait when it comes to waiting for luggage and going through security, saving you valuable time on your business trip.

Do’s and Don’ts of NYC

You should be aware of a few unspoken rules if you are visiting New York City. The first thing to understand is that the people of New York City tend to walk fast and with purpose. This means you want to avoid getting in the way and should keep up with the locals’ pace. Another good tip is to walk to the side of the pavement closer to the street. This helps to keep entrances to businesses open and reduces the chance of you running into people.

On your trip to New York City, you will likely be using the subway to get around. It is important to remember that you should always let people leave the subway first before you get on. This sounds like common sense, but if you need to remember, you may find yourself with an unhappy local on your hands shouting at you. Finally, if you get lost, don’t hesitate to ask someone for directions. The people of New York City get bad press for being somewhat hostile; however, you will find that this is not always the case. A lot of the time, they will be more than happy to help you out.

Now on to what you shouldn’t do: firstly, if you are getting in a cab to travel somewhere in the city, don’t let them know where you are going until you are sitting inside with the door closed. The reason for this is if you let them know beforehand, they can kick you out; if the door is already closed, they have to take you to your destination. This is especially important if you are going on a longer journey, for example, to Jersey.

Don’t stop in the sidewalk’s centre to glance at your mobile phone when walking around the city. Not only will this save you from being knocked over by other people who are not paying much attention to what’s in front of them, but you also won’t annoy the other pedestrians by getting in their way. Finally, Time Square is a popular tourist destination that many people want to see on a trip to NYC; however, it is not worth spending much time there. The restaurants in the area are overpriced, and there are many better things to do in the city.

Best Ways to Workout in NYC

It is essential to stay fit and healthy even whilst on business trips, and NYC has several ways you can do this. The city is home to several Planet Fitness centres meaning you can easily visit a gym and squeeze in a workout. There are also some fantastic running routes, such as the Hudson River Greenway, which is 12.9 miles long and has some beautiful scenery along the way.

How to Enjoy a Day Off in NYC

If you find some time off during your business trip to explore the city, then there are several remarkable things you can do and see. Central Park is an iconic part of New York City, which is a perfect way to spend a day unwinding from the stresses of work with a stroll. If you want to experience the Italian presence in the City, why not visit Little Italy, where you will also find The Bronx Zoo?

Now you have been equipped with some valuable knowledge that will help make your business trip to New York City run as smoothly as possible whilst also being enjoyable. It is one of the most famous cities in the world for a reason, so remember to take some time to enjoy it whilst you also get on with the work you need to do.
