How to Create the Perfect Home Office

For some people, life post-COVID will never be the same, in a good way. They have discovered the joy of working from home and don’t intend to go back to the office, five days a week, any time soon. Although it can be a blessing, as you control your time, you do have to rethink one of the rooms inside the house, in order to create a real office. Here is what you will need to make it a “happy place.”

Open the Room to Natural Light

Now that you are in control, you have a unique chance to live in a healthy environment, where your mental state will be optimal. We spend a lot of our waking time working, so it only makes sense that we invest on the space where this takes place. Once you have found the room that will become your office, start by revisiting the window(s). You need to be able to work under natural light, as much as possible. The positioning of the room, in terms of the sun, should therefore also be a consideration.

Don’t be afraid to tear down the wall, if need be, and recreate one with glass. There are so many possibilities nowadays, as you will discover on aluprof.eu/en – window and door systems. Maybe you can use a system of sliding doors, to fully open-up the room in summer time, or go for a large bay window. It is up to you to decide how much a part of nature, you want to be. These new aluminium doors and windows will also add to your comfort, as you work, since they are built to keep the cool air inside the house during hot days and keep you warm through winter time.

Buy a High-quality Office Chair

The biggest problem that people have, when working form home, are related to their chair. When you make the switch, you don’t always take the time to buy a new one, thinking this is not a permanent way of working. But now that you have made the decision to stay at home, you need to invest in a chair that will fit your body like a glove. Otherwise, you are bound to have musculoskeletal pains, which can turn into health issues that will remain with you for the rest of your life. Which leads us to our next point…

Keep a Part of the Room Free, so you can do Workouts

You don’t need much to be able to train at home, as if you were in the gym, without even realizing that you are getting your reps done daily. A couple of dumbbells, an elastic, a yoga mat and you are all set. Create rules that you will follow every day. If your work can be broken down in pieces, then enter 10 minutes of exercises in-between each of them. Otherwise, work with time. Insert a workout every 90 minutes, at least four times a day. And walk! Don’t stay at your desk all day. You should even go for a run before lunchtime, if you can, even if it means spending 30 minutes more in the office, at the end of the day.
