In Her Element with Amanda Kloots: Redefining Wellness, Self-Care, and How Her Jump Rope Helps Her with the Red Carpet
In Her Element is a new column in YCB written by Meredith Lepore dedicated to highlighting the lives, careers, and personal journeys of inspiring women who are leading the charge in their respective fields. Each edition will dive deep into what makes these women tick, from their go-to wellness rituals and favorite products to the daily habits that keep them motivated and empowered. In every conversation, we’ll uncover the tools, routines, and mindset behind their success. Expect everything from self-care practices and workout tips to insights on productivity and entrepreneurship—showcasing the unique ways these women balance it all while staying true to themselves.
One may think they would want a break, or even just a short vacation, after completing a five-year hosting stint on a daily talk show, but Amanda Kloots is far from slowing down.

The fitness entrepreneur and instructor, Dancing with the Stars contestant, and mother to son Elvis, whom she shares with late husband Nick Cordero, has repeatedly proven that her energy and passion are limitless. After wrapping up the 15th and final season of The Talk last December, Kloots is on to her next adventure, and we can’t wait to see it.

For Kloots, the art of pivoting is second nature- and she does it with such enthusiasm and joy that it seems almost effortless. Originally from Ohio, she built a successful career as an actress and dancer (and we mean dancer, as Kloots was a Radio City Rockette), and fitness instructor before she founded the AK! Rope method in 2016. What began as a quest to find a full-body workout that could be done anywhere, with minimal equipment, evolved into a powerhouse fitness method.

Seriously, if you thought a jump rope was just for, you know, jumping rope, you would be quite wrong. She told Well & Good back in 2018, “Rope is a no-excuses piece of exercise equipment that tones your entire body. What I love about [it] is that you can do it anywhere.” For Kloots, it’s not just about jumping rope—it’s about toning muscles you didn’t even know you had, all with a piece of equipment small enough to toss in your bag (you can’t do this with your Peloton Bike.)
Her success with the AK! Rope Method led to the creation of additional classes including AK! Dance, AK! Body and AK! Baby Bump when she was pregnant with her son. She also has the AK! Fitness app.
In addition to her fitness empire, Kloots became a best-selling author with her her memoir, the NY Times bestseller “Live Your Life: My Story of Loving and Losing Nick Cordero”, that was co-authored with her sister influencer Anna Kloots (who leads her own very inspiring life, especially if you want some good Paris content).

Now, Amanda is broadening her reach even further with the launch of PROPER, a new line of nutrient-dense supplements designed to support overall health in an easy, convenient, and affordable way (plus they come in a beautiful array of colors.) With everything priced under $30, PROPER is set to disrupt the wellness industry, proving that optimal health can be both accessible and enjoyable.
Her latest endeavor brought her to the stunning Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa, where she hosted a special pop-up AK! Body fitness class on the Halona Kai Lawn. Surrounded by the beauty of the Pacific Ocean, this 45-minute class combines cardio and toning moves that challenge both the body and the mind—perfect for those looking to build strength, flexibility, and mental focus.
Amanda commits to everything she does with such joy and perseverance. YCB was lucky enough to sit down with Amanda Kloots to discuss her fitness journey, self-care routines, and what’s next on the horizon.
The Essentials Edit
After you teach a class or do someone else’s class or your own very challenging workout, what’s your go-to post-workout ritual to recharge your body and mind? Are there any specific products or foods you rely on?
I like to work out on an empty stomach, so I like to recharge after a workout with food, and I typically go for a lot of vegetables and protein
What does self-care look like for you, especially on days when you’re not teaching or working out?
I am obsessed with self-care, and I take it very seriously. I love getting massages. I love getting facials. I love getting lymphatic drainage massages. I love sleep. I take a lot of naps, and I love nature, so I love to go on walks or hikes, and I love listening to podcasts that are all about well-being, wellness, health, and longevity.
What’s next for you?
What’s next for me? I have a lot of things coming down the pipeline! I’ll be teaching down in Cabo in April, and then I’m doing some guest speaking events in Buffalo, New York and New York, New York. And then, at the end of May, I’ll be on Family Feud with my family, which I’m super excited about. I’m a longtime fan of the show. I also have my new supplement company called PROPER superfood supplements that launches in Target on April 6. So that’s a huge deal for me, a huge endeavor as an entrepreneur!
What’s the one product or tool you can’t start your day without?
A product I can’t live without starting my day is my immune support from proper nutrition. It is the best way to flood my body with vitamins and minerals and all the goods that I want to flood my system with first thing in the morning
When you’re traveling, what’s your go-to item that makes the flight more comfortable or productive?
I love my silk eye mask, and I also usually do a collagen face mask on flight as well.
What can be found at the bottom of your purse?
Gum, mints, and loose change.
Before stepping onto the red carpet or attending a big event, what’s the product you rely on to feel your best?
Honestly, what I love to do is get a jump rope exercise in because it really helps to get my blood flowing. Jumping rope is great for your lymphatic system as well. So it helps. I think it helps with feeling your best. Getting my stomach feeling tight and my arms tone from the jumping and the cardio just helps me feel my best.
What are you streaming right now?
I’m working on getting through Season 3 of The White Lotus.
