Love Languages to Type A’s: A Gift Guide for any Personality Type

Love Languages to Type A’s: A Gift Guide for any Personality Type

December 12, 2025

Christmas provides the perfect opportunity to show appreciation for loved ones, however, finding a thoughtful gift that highlights just how well you know them can be challenging. The growing conversation around wellness and self-discovery in the last few years has enabled people to be even more in tune with what makes them unique. This year, self-identification has reached a whole new level with the conversation around personality types and love languages taking over social media. One TikTok user, thetypebgirl, has even dedicated her entire account to identifying as type B and amassed 6.5 million views on one of her latest videos on the topic.

So to help struggling shoppers find a gift that extends beyond the recipient’s favourite colour this Christmas, a new study conducted by Pandora UK has uncovered the makeup of personalities, from the most popular love languages to whether we’re home to more type A or type B’s. The gifting experts at Pandora have used these insights and their expertise to compile the ultimate thoughtful gift guide for all loved ones this Christmas.

Love languages

According to the study, the UK’s most common love language is quality time, shared by a third (30%) of Brits. In second place, a quarter (25%) of Brits express love through performing acts of service, favoured more by women (28%) than men (22%). In third place, the main love language for one in five (21%) is physical touch.

Words of affirmation

Here, Emma Fox, jewellery expert at Pandora explains what each love language means when it comes to gifting. “If your loved one or significant other identifies with the words of affirmation love language, the perfect gift should express just how much they mean to you, through written or verbal communication, not just actions.

Engravable jewellery is a great way to go one step further than a handwritten letter and gift your loved one personalised kind words that they can read and treasure every day.”

Acts of service

Emma says, “The acts of service love language means showing love by carrying out helpful tasks for a partner to make their life better. When it comes to choosing a gift for someone with this love language, make sure it’s something the recipient will get a lot of use out of.

“Useful gifts don’t have to be boring. Try to find a balance between functional but fun, something that they wouldn’t deem essential to buy themselves but will make their day infinitely better, like a good quality gym bag, or coffee subscription.”

Gift Giving

“The gift-giving love language isn’t about gifting items with the highest monetary value, it’s about showing your love to someone by putting time and effort into choosing something you think they’ll love.” Emma explains. “When gifting people with this love language, consider gifts that they can access or wear every day, as this will allow them to have a constant reminder of how much they mean to you – think a timeless ring stack or a personalised wash bag.”

Physical Touch

“If your partner’s love language is physical touch, it can be challenging to find a suitable gift as they may not place as much value in materialistic items. Comforting items like a weighted blanket to snuggle under, a cosy dressing gown or even simply making a conscious effort to show affection during the festive season can go a long way.” Emma recommends.

Quality time

“When looking for a gift for a loved one who values quality time above all else, consider options based on doing an activity together or even involving them in the shopping process. Making a whole day out of visiting their favourite shops rather than trying to make it a surprise on Christmas Day can make those with this love language feel especially appreciated.”

The ABCD personality types

Nearly half (43%) of Brits find personality types enjoyable and humorous, while a further quarter (27%) find it comforting to align themselves with one. The study has revealed that the UK is a nation of self-proclaimed socialisers, with the type B personality being the most common across all generations. Gen-Z identify most with type A personalities, while millennials include the most (35%) thinkers.

Gift ideas for type A’s

Emma says, “The Type A personality type is characterised by being driven, strong-minded and competitive, so these individuals value reaching their goals highly. For loved ones with these characteristics, consider centering gifts around their hobbies or career, which’ll help them strive further or even just gifts that recognise their achievements.

“For example, charms that celebrate their latest travels or big milestones, or new running equipment to make their next marathon that bit easier.”

Gift ideas of type B’s

“Type B’s are best known for being easygoing, enthusiastic and sociable. They value their relationships deeply, so gifts that celebrate your relationship or create opportunities for new shared experiences are a great option.

“For an indecisive type B in your life that you want to spoil with jewellery, mixed metal pieces provide the best of both worlds and mean you can’t get their metal preference wrong!”

Star-sign superfans

“For the star sign-obsessed loved ones in your life, a piece of zodiac jewellery not only shows how well you know them, but also allows them to have a reminder of your relationship every time they wear it.” Emma tells us.
