Halloween Doorscaping That Ooze Luxury, Not Low-Quality

Halloween Doorscaping That Ooze Luxury, Not Low-Quality

September 22, 2025

Creating a sumptuously spooky Halloween doorscape without resorting to typical décor seems complicated – but in reality, this task is more treat than trick! When All Hallow’s Eve rolls around each year, it is all too easy to head to the supermarket and grab the same old plastic décor. But, if you are looking up your decorating game and extend your chic home aesthetic through to your seasonal doorscape – it’s time to step up to the challenge. You can create a frighteningly good doorscape that screams luxury – whilst still embracing the spookiest time of the year. So, what should you be avoiding, and what’s on the spooky shopping list?

LIGHTING

It is all well and good creating a Halloween-themed doorscape for trick-or-treaters and neighbours to enjoy, but there is no point in creating anything if they can’t see it at night. When creating a themed doorscape, I always recommend starting by setting the right mood with lighting.

To bring the spooky vibes, solar lanterns are the ultimate base. Reminiscent of oil lamps used in Victorian times, outdoor lanterns not only provide an eerily enchanting glow, but also add a chic and luxurious element to your front doorscape. Place a collection of alternating sizes around the perimeter of your front door or porch, lighting the way to your offering of delicious treats. Bonus points if you add faux flickering candles, or hazy orange bulbs for a sophisticatedly spooky atmosphere – don’t forget to swap out the bulbs in your outdoor wall lighting, too! Once the spooky season has passed, you can change these back to normal bulbs, and continue using them as decorative and functional lighting.

DITCH THE PLASTIC:

Instead of piling an abundance of orange and purple plastic into your porch, this year, we would love to see more natural materials being used. Hay bales and dried corn plants can be sourced from local farmers to re-create the classic eerie corn field horror movie atmosphere, or autumnal florals, foliage, and wreaths can be used to create a more light-hearted, elegant display.

PUMPKINS, BUT MAKE IT CHIC:

When it comes to Halloween, pumpkins are non-negotiable. But, the cliché scary carved face can tend to look outdated and may dampen your display if you are going for a luxury vibe. This year, why not opt for more tasteful pumpkin designs instead? Try drilling holes in your pumpkins (disco ball style), creating elegant monograms, or even painting pumpkins in a tone that match your doorscape for a touch of opulence. Remember to place them with purpose, intertwining with your floor lighting and levelling on steps or banisters – creating a visually pleasing, polished display.

So, with three terrifyingly good tips you’re now ready to create the ultimate luxury Halloween doorscape. Did somebody say ghost-ess with the mostess?
