Metallic Manicures Were All Over the 2026 Met Gala Red Carpet

The 2026 Met Gala carpet confirmed a clear beauty direction: metallic manicures are officially the breakout nail trend of the year. From liquid silver finishes to chrome-dipped fingertips, “iced nails” became the defining detail of the night, seen on Rihanna, Gigi Hadid and Ashley Graham.

But according to jewellery brand PRYA, the real style story is not just the nails themselves, but how they are being styled.
In the UK, Google searches for “metallic nails” have increased 407% in the past quarter and 32% over the past year, reflecting a rapid rise in demand for high-shine, reflective beauty looks. Over the past month, terms including “metallic gold nails”, “metallic nail polish” and “metallic French tip nails” have seen breakout growth of over 5,000%.
Metallic manicures are driving a shift towards more intentional jewellery styling, where rings, textures and metal tones are chosen to compliment high-shine nails rather than compete with them.
Arwa Hassan, co-founder and style director of PRYA, says: “We are seeing metallic nails act almost like jewellery in themselves. The finish, the shine and the reflective quality all echo the metals we traditionally wear in rings and bracelets. The most elevated looks right now are the ones where nails and jewellery feel like they belong to the same story.”
She adds, “It is less about matching perfectly and more about building a full-hand moment. Think stacked rings, mixed metals and textures that catch the light the same way as chrome or liquid gold nails.”
How to style metallic nails
Key jewellery styling rules to elevate the look:
- Stack, don’t simplify
Metallic nails are bold by nature, so jewellery should feel equally intentional. Stacked rings in mixed metals help create balance and visual impact.
- Lean into pavé and sparkle
Diamond-inspired finishes and crystal detailing enhance the reflective quality of chrome and metallic polish, creating a cohesive shine effect.
- Mix metals on purpose
Silver, gold and rose gold are no longer competing tones. When paired with metallic nails, mixed metals feel modern and editorial rather than mismatched.
- Treat the hands as a full styling moment
Rather than focusing on a single ring or statement piece, PRYA suggests thinking in layers, with bracelets, rings and nails working together as one cohesive look.
The red carpet effect moving into everyday styling
The rise of metallic manicures reflects a wider shift towards expressive, accessory-led beauty, where nails are no longer separate from fashion styling but part of it.
This is accelerating demand for jewellery that feels versatile enough to move between minimal and statement dressing, depending on how it is layered with beauty looks.
Arwa explains: “What we are really seeing is a return to expressive styling. Nails, jewellery and even makeup are becoming interconnected again. The most interesting looks right now are the ones where every detail feels considered, not isolated.”
