The Wuthering Heights Effect: Method Dressing, Gothic Glamour and Engravable Jewellery
Margot Robbie and her stylist Andrew Mukamal have sent fans and fashion lovers into a frenzy over her ‘method dressing’ press tour looks for the release of Wuthering Heights, and with the film premiering on Friday, today is reserved for debriefing over the acting, romance, and in particular the outfits.

The Victorian-inspired outfits have sparked headlines and social media buzz over the last few weeks, with Margot fully embracing ‘method dressing’ for her role as Catherine Earnshaw and according to the experts, method dressing is a concept we can all adapt and benefit from in our day-to-day lives.

The film’s impact on the fashion world doesn’t stop there; gothic romance-inspired jewellery has seen a rise in popularity with UK Google searches for ‘Gothic silver’ up 132% compared to last year. At the same time, ‘cross necklace’ has received 63K searches in the past month alone, 13% higher than last year.
Margot reportedly gifted co-star Jacob Elordi a matching engraved ring after filming, coinciding with the trend that personalised jewellery is well and truly at the forefront of people’s minds this year.
So, to explore the impact the film is having on our fashion habits, Pandora’s resident jewellery expert Emma Fox has shared with us her thoughts on the gothic romance aesthetic and how method dressing can be incorporated into daily life.
Method dressing can help express personality and have fun with fashion

Emma explains: “Inspired by ‘method acting’ where actors maintain character outside of filming to help enhance their performance, method dressing is the latest trend helping actors and audiences feel engrossed by a film.”
Whilst premiering her latest film Wuthering Heights, which hits cinemas on Friday, Margot Robbie has gained attention globally for the gothic looks she’s been serving during the press tour and on the red carpet, in ode to the tortured protagonist Cathy that she plays.
“The intention behind method dressing is to strengthen the film’s sense of identity and use fashion as a way to embody the character, making audiences feel even more a part of the magic.” Emma says.
“Incorporating the essence of method dressing into your everyday life can bring confidence and a sense of individuality in a heavily social media dominated world. The key is to create a cohesive theme within your outfit that reflects your interests or how you want to feel that day, all the way down to your jewellery, accessories and even makeup. For example, shades of the same colour, bold layering or a really clear style in every piece you’re wearing.”
Engraving is on the rise
Taking method dressing one step further, during the press tour, Margot gifted Jacob matching rings engraved with the quote ‘Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same’, alongside the initials of Cathy and Heathcliff, the inscription ‘1847-2026’, and two skeletons embracing.

Emma adds: “We’re already seeing engraving gain huge popularity in the jewellery space, and this gift from Margot to Jacob is only going to drive the obsession further – especially around Valentine’s Day, engraved jewellery is the ultimate display of romance and passion. Not only are you gifting someone something that will be kept close to them at all times, but you’ve gone to the added effort of inscribing a sentimental message or word that they can cherish forever.”
Vamp Romance is taking over the clean girl aesthetic

This year’s Pinterest Predicts identified Vamp Romance as one of their biggest trends for 2026, with the clean girl aesthetic set to be taken over by all things dark and moody. Since the start of the year Pinterest UK searches for ‘gothic outfit’ are up 30% on last year, and UK Google searches for ‘black gemstone’ are up 300% compared to last quarter. While, ‘black jewellery’ has received 13K searches in the last month alone.
Emma explains: “In the same way that minimalist interiors have slowly been replaced with maximalism, we’re seeing the same start to happen with fashion and beauty. Vamp romance is the antithesis of the clean girl aesthetic, with a focus on rich and sultry shades – kohl eyeliner, black gemstones and heavy layers of fabrics. The trend is dark, mysterious and dramatic, all things characterised by Wuthering Heights, and it’s not set to be taking a backseat any time soon.”
