Where to Find a Summer Escape in the Heart of London City

Every year, the idea of skipping our annual summer holiday tempts us. As both temperatures and the cost of living in London increase, we don’t blame you if you’ve given into the temptation this year and decided to enjoy the warmest months of the year at home.

However, a few weeks into stuffy tubes, swarms of crowds, and watching your colleagues sipping spritzes in France via Instagram may have you feeling a sense of regret. So for those of us that aren’t going on holiday this year, or for those of us who have just arrived home and are already yearning to return; we have the perfect solution. The glamorous five-star Pan Pacific hotel has partnered with St-Germain to create an al fresco oasis; Terrace on the Plaza, of sea and spritz right in the heart of the city, and we would highly recommend you pay it a visit.

On warm, sunny days, this terrace is bustling with friends and colleagues gathering to unwind after a day of work as the sun sets over the city. The atmosphere is electric with the feeling of the impending weekend. During the weekend itself, there is an undeniable sense of indulgent relaxation that’s synonymous with being on holidays. Imagine couples laughing over shared plates of food and groups of old friends recounting stories as they refill their cocktail from jugs of minty spritzes. Given its fortunate location, it’s in the centre line of the sun all day, so there never comes a time to worry about the breeze of the shade.

At this point, you might be wondering exactly how this hotel’s outdoor plaza has managed to transform itself into the perfect sipping spot, adored by London’s locals?

Let’s start with the food. While the menu prides itself on fresh seafood, it’s incredibly inclusive – meaning those on a vegan or vegetarian diet need not worry. Similarly to those with gluten intolerances, the staff are attentive and can make alterations where needed.

To begin, we had a plate of delicate mussels steamed in a Lemongrass, creamy sauce; the perfect choice to whet the appetite.

Following that, we opted for the spicy Prawn Rojak Salad, topped with pineapple, mooli, cucumber and toasted peanuts and the succulent Salmon Poke Bowl. Of course, we couldn’t deny a side of some crispy on the outside, soft on the inside chickpea fries.

While we left feeling more than satisfied with our selection of dishes, those looking for a summery sweet treat can enjoy a trio of assorted ice creams including raspberry and chilli, apple wasabi and sesame.

Next up, we have of course, the equally sophisticated and tasty selection of cocktails. For those of you who don’t know, St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur is created from up to one thousand fresh elderflowers, picked while in full-bloom. Is there any wonder this elegant ingredient happens to be the key component of the cocktails that boast a certain je ne sais quoi?

The restaurant’s extensive cocktail selection includes (but is not limited to) the signature St-Germain Spritz, a mix of St-Germain, prosecco, soda and lemon, and a St-Germain Hugo, a highball with fresh mint, soda, lime, prosecco and St-Germain. Both are uniquely available as a carafe to share amongst your clique.

For those of you seeking a post-dinner hit of caffeine, fear not. The menu also offers the classic Espresso Martini for the ultimate pick-me-up.

Last but not least, we should discuss the decor. Nestled amongst towering skyscrapers, this unique terrace is a true haven in the heart of a bustling city. With vibrant flowers blossoming at every corner, vines of foliage and fairy lights intertwining the wooden beams of the roof, and a distinct pastel colour of a St-Germain bar placed in the centre. Each detail of this dainty terrace perfectly complements the other. What’s more, you can hear a faint soundtrack of lively jazz and French music playing amongst the chatter and laughter, creating a truly perfect atmosphere to lift the spirits and unwind the mind.

To conclude, whether it be for the next post-work drinks or for a weekend date spent basking in the sun, look no further than Pan Pacific’s St-Germain terrace for a truly unforgettable time. With delectable cocktails, top-quality food and an unbeatable atmosphere, this stylish oasis will provide all of your summer holiday needs in one sitting.
