Life’s Too Short For Bad Smoothies

Nourishing, flavourful, bright and oh–so Instagram worthy! The smoothie bowls are making a statement this fall, bursting with flavour as bold as they’re colourful! Our friends at the Detox Kitchen are ready to save the grey season as they are launching a new range of dreamy, delicious smoothie bowls.

Earlier this week, we at YCB were invited to their Mortimer Street Deli to attend the exclusive press preview… A superb coffee alternative (although we love our daily cup of joe it’s nice to have back–ups), these bashing goodies made our Wednesday so much brighter! We will tell you about our favourites worth dying for, so be prepared to sprint to your closest Detox Kitchen location.

On a rainy and gloomy Wednesday morning, we met up with the girls at the Detox Kitchen on Mortimer street, who let us in on their brand new concept. Phones at the ready, we literally couldn’t wait to take snaps of the new range of smoothie bowls with all the colours of the rainbow, putting a spark to our day!

Handmade on location bursting with natural ingredients, the magical bowls are free from wheat, diary and refined sugar. We got to try all 4 of the exiting new flavours…

The uber-trendy Acai Berry bowl, with its smooth Gelato like texture and crunchy coconut flakes, took us back to the summer. While the classic Raspberry Oat bowl gently embraced us with its sweetness.

The Avocado Spirulina boosted with nutrients in a punchy way. However, the Coconut Dragon immediately stole our hearts, with its popping pink colour natural from the dragon fruit we experienced a tropical flavour explosion like no other! Only ever come across this sweet dragon fruit in South America we were impressed to find just how flavourful and colourful it actually could be right here in London.

A lovely lady we met at the press preview, who was involved in the product development, explained that they have a special supplier, distributing only the very best quality of fruits and berries to its stores. This all aligns with the Detox Kitchen’s main objective, to pack every dish with as much flavour and nutrients as possible.

“We believe that the food we eat can have a powerful effect on our health. This is why our focus is on creating nutritious, wholesome foods using good quality, seasonal ingredients cooked from scratch daily in our kitchen.” The team explained.

Simply put, nothing is added and nothing is taken away. Everything is made right there on location, made from scratch with whole and natural ingredients.

The Founder, Lisa Simpson started the Detox Kitchen in 2012 simply because she wanted to encourage more people to start eating and enjoying healthy food.

“Most importantly I wanted to create a brand that people can trust, and so everything we serve is made by us; we know where all our ingredients come from and we know how to cook them to get the most out of them, both in terms of flavour and nutrients.” She told YCB.

Millennials are taking the lead in the new trend of consuming healthy and colourful food, being highly aware of what it contains and where the ingredients are coming from. In general people want to eat more healthily which restaurants, cafes and shops need to facilitate, to remain relevant.

Despite the hour of the day and your distinct craving, the smoothie bowls from the Detox Kitchen can fill your every need. Eating healthy is not a burden, nor a punishment. Lisa Simpsons clarifies: “Detoxing is not a diet, it’s a lifestyle, and it’s one that is warm, and abundant and gloriously enjoyable.”
