Haunted Dolls are Real – This is Why
A Cursed Collection of Haunted Dolls is released in the UK. My book takes a deep-dive into alleged true life cases of haunted dolls and some of the creepy and unnerving experiences people have had in owning one.

Most people, when you mention haunted dolls, will think of famous cases such as the rag doll Annabelle (who has had a whole franchise of horror movies based on her), or Robert the doll, who has been terrifying visitors at the Fort East Martello Museum in Florida Key West). Yet there is a whole host of dolls, cases from around the world, which have been just as sinister.

Take for instance Harold the doll, owned by writer Anthony Quinata. Harold was a 1930’s vintage baby doll purchased on eBay; Anthony was the winning bidder in the 2015 auction and soon found himself in the centre of a frightening series of events. Harold had some kind of dark energy attached and, as a result, owner Anthony experienced a whole host of bad luck. He even blamed the death of his dog on the negative energy haunting the old child’s toy.
Many believe in haunted houses, yet aren’t quite so familiar with haunted objects. I believe an object can be as haunted as any house – whether it’s a piece of jewellery, a family heirloom, a doll or antique furnishing. After all, if a house which is merely bricks and land, can be spirited, then why not any other material object?
During my research writing A Cursed Collection of Haunted Dolls, I wanted to find out how a doll like Annabelle or Harold can actually become haunted. There are a few theories out there:
- When talking about a haunted doll, it’s quite possible that a spirit wants to be linked to a vessel that resembles a human being. If spirit can link to a physical item, then connecting to a human-like object makes sense.
- The doll, or any personal object, might have been an item that a person loved, owned and cherished for many, many years. It is possible that the person’s energy might remain with it, or some kind of psychic imprint linked to it?
- Dolls are often held, loved and nurtured, and owners even create “personalities” and feelings around them, especially children. Is it possible this manifests a type of energy, or that a spirit is drawn to the maternal link that is there?
- It is possible that the item was used in some kind of curse or spell ritual, meaning that it might not be haunted by a ghost or spirit, but it may have some kind of dark energy attached.
Whatever your belief (or scepticism) on the subject, this aspect of the paranormal is certainly a fascinating one. If you want to learn more, my book A Cursed Collection of Haunted Dolls is available now, via Amazon or most good book stores.
