Summer Living Done Right With Furnishful

You’ve got your spring clean out of the way, now it is time for the fun part – updating your home for SS18 with some fabulous new furnishings.

If you’ve been watching the Netflix hit series Queer Eye, you’ll know the life-changing powers of a great home makeover thanks to cast member Bobby Berk and his interiors wizardry. The good news is, you don’t need the fab five on speed dial to transform your home into an Insta-worthy living space this summer. With the season kicking off officially on 21st June, we’ve edited some of our favourite homeware styles from Furnishful to update your living space just in time for the season of sunshine.

The team over at Furnishful are on hand to help you discover and shop for beautiful furniture and homeware must‑have items. The online boutique brings together 20K + products from over 30 retailers. Retailers featured on the site include John Lewis, Made.com, Graham and Green, Habitat, Laura Ashley, Wayfair and Not On The High Street, amongst others.

To help you find the perfect items for your home, Furnishful have handy filters such as price, colour and style (e.g. Scandinavian style furniture) which make your shopping experience not only easy peasy but also oh so very enjoyable. You can also browse inspiration boards to get inspired ahead of your next home upgrade!

The interiors trend for plush velvet is still going strong for SS18, particularly when combined with rich jewel tones. An easy way to work this texture into your home is with a pile of tactile velvet-soft cushions; we love this Savora mustard yellow number.Instagram’s favourite interiors trend also lends itself wonderfully to seating; Frame’s blush cotton velvet chair references mid-century designs with it’s soft curves and sleek shape and would sit perfectly in the corner of a living room or bedroom.

Copper accents also continue to be a key story in interiors for 2018 and translate into some seriously stylish furniture designs. Aula’s nesting table combines a copper-hued frame with a green glass tabletop that transform a living room essential into a beautiful statement piece. Just add a glossy copy of Porter magazine for an Instagram-worthy aesthetic!

Whilst no summer living space is complete without some greenery to bring the outdoors in, this can pose a challenge for the horticulturally challenged. Being the opposite of green-fingered myself, may I point you in the direction of Canopée’s leafy printed cushions that have all the green appeal of foliage without the need for a subscription to Gardeners’ World. Carry the leafy aesthetic through to your walls with French Connection’s tropical leaf framed print by British designer Michelle Collins.

If your living space is lacking in natural light, introducing a mirror is an interior designer’s favourite trick to brighten a dark corner. RUSTY’s metal arcade mirror wouldn’t look out of place in a French chateau and can be positioned on a dresser top or hung above a mantelpiece to reflect light into a room. Finish the room with a chic table lamp such as this blue ceramic design from Maisons du Monde. The simple white shade is contrasted against an elaborate blue ceramic base for a cool Portuguese aesthetic.

Don’t forget your garden when restyling your home for summer – even the most unassuming patch of grass can be transformed with the right accessories from Furnishful.

Rattan seating makes a great starting point when designing your outdoor space for a summer of entertaining; there’s a Hamptons-esque luxury about rattan garden furniture piled high with comfy cushions. Our pick is the ST TROPEZ Round garden sofa in rattan, which is equal parts practical and stylish thanks to the taupe easy to clean cushions.

If your garden is lacking in shade in the height of summer consider a wicker seater with a canopy to protect from the glare of UV rays. The ANTIBES 2 seater wicker garden sofa in black features a comfy mattress and five cushions to envelope you in softness like a welcoming cocoon. The perfect place to take a siesta when the temperatures peak!

Illuminating your garden with candles when dusk falls is an effortless way to bring instant ambience to summer entertaining. LSA International Coro Tealight Holder’s come in a set of 4 leafy hues to cast verdant green light over your outdoor space. Combine with more flickering tea lights presented in stylish lanterns, such as this timeless James Brass Finish Tealight Latern to illuminate your outdoor space with an ethereal feel.

And there you have it – a stylish and comfortable living space that would meet even Bobby Berk’s professional approval. With your garden and home updated for the summer months ahead, all that’s left to be done reap the rewards, entertain your friends and ‘gram away!
