Coyote Ugly to Open in Piccadilly Circus

One of the UK’s fastest growing bar brands is set to open a new venue in the heart of London following a deal that will see the high-octane style bar open in Piccadilly Circus.

Work is now under way to convert the 6,200 sq ft space on Shaftesbury Avenue, under the Zedwell Hotel, into a Coyote Ugly, which was the inspiration behind the multi-million dollar hit movie of the same name.

Previously a large souvenir shop, the new bar will open its doors in the spring 2023 and will be the second Coyote Ugly bar in the capital.

The deal to open the new bar has been headed by Steve Lewis, chairman of the Breaking Brands group with fellow directors Nick Taplin and Caroline Wilce. This exciting development follows the opening of the first London venue in Camden Town in August 2022.

Renowned for their high-energy bar teams and aesthetic interior appeal the first Coyote Ugly opened back in the early 90s in New York. Founded by Liliana Lovell it quickly became the place to go for a good time.

Now with over 20 bars globally, Coyote Ugly Piccadilly Circus will replicate the high energy, cowboy themed fun, patrons worldwide have come to enjoy.

The ground floor venue will hold a 03.00am licence, the first granted in the West End for over 25 years and will hold 350 people.  Open from 08.00am for breakfast, Coyote Ugly, Piccadilly Circus will be a destination venue with food and drink packages available at any time of the day. With plenty of country music and lots of dancing on the bar, it will appeal to all groups, tourists and families looking to celebrate and have a fun time.

Steve said: “Piccadilly is one of London’s busiest areas and is ideal for a bar like Coyote Ugly. The history of the film and bars will appeal not only to the high number of tourists who visit the area but also those visiting the capital from across the UK.

“In addition, those working in London will be able to enjoy the lively atmosphere that has made the Coyote Ugly brand one of the most popular bars across the world.

“As a brand, we will be opening more sites both in the UK and abroad and dovetails with our ambitious plans to open a lot more venues across the world.”

Nick Taplin added: “We are extremely excited about this new venture in such an iconic location in our capital city. We look forward to working with Criterion Capital on this and other projects in the future.”

Breaking Brands specialise in bringing emerging, established and its own brands to new territories around the world and currently has operations in Asia, Europe, Germany, America (including Las Vegas, Florida and New York), the UAE and the UK.
