Access to this romantic hideaway is along a mountain trackway. Situated at the foot of Manod Mountain, it feels a million miles away from anywhere but actually, it’s just a mile and half from the nearest pub! There’s a cheerful log burner to keep you cosy on cooler nights. The mezzanine bedroom adds to the intimate feel to the holiday cottage but take care, as access is by a steepish ladder. As it is so remote, the owners do recommend a 4X4 during the winter months to make sure you can navigate the mountain track!

Darling How Cottage

Near Low Lorton, Lake District – sleeps 4

Hidden away up a forestry track you will find Darling How Cottage. Situated just off Whinlatter Pass, this holiday cottage is set in stunning countryside, surrounded by fells and with no neighbour in sight, this is a truly isolated retreat! But if you fancy some company, just 2 miles away is Whinlatter Visitors Centre with plenty to do for all the family – and the nearest pub is also just 2 miles away in Low Lorton. Inside, the cottage has a bright and spacious feel, with its white walls, original beams and exposed stone walls. There is a cheerful log burner for those cooler days, perfect to snuggle up beside after a day spent walking on the fells.

Lovejoys Mill

As the name suggests, this picturesque 17th century mill is situated in the Belchamp Hall estate where the TV series ‘Lovejoy’ was filmed.
