Enjoy a plate of Maldon Oysters (£3 per oyster) – freshly sourced from Goldhanger Creek and River Blackwater in Essex – and settle down under a canopy of fragrant wisteria with one of the bar’s gin specials. Starting from £9 each, must-tries include South Side, muddled with lemon juice, sugar and mint; a Classic G&T Twist, infusing elderflower tonic with strawberry and black pepper; Gin & Ginger, bursting with lime and ginger beer; and a classic Negroni.

Once appetite whetted, peruse Pomona’s seasonal menu and indulge in one of its suitably summery dishes such as the dairy-free monkfish curry; grilled lobster with asparagus; or the crunchy butternut squash salad, and enjoy alongside a chilled Summer Spritz – a refreshing blend of Aperol, cucumber juice, rose syrup and prosecco.

For those after something a little heartier, choose from the Bertha oven’s Wood & Charcoal menu with dishes such as Welsh lamb rump with greens and goat’s curd; Chateaubriand with chunky chips to share; or Pomona’s house burger with bone marrow and bacon – pair them perfectly with a robust red or chilled beer.
