Why Sicily should be your next big vacation this Summer

If you are in the need for a relaxing, unforgettable summer vacation under the warm sun of the Mediterranean with your besties, we will always recommend Sicily. This exotic island in the south of Italy is a favourite holiday spot for travellers worldwide who arrive yearly to lounge on the best beaches of the Mediterranean, surrounded by breath-taking scenic views of the coast and the sea, exotic nature reserves, and artistic and archaeological treasures dating back several millennia.

The Agrigento coast to the West, which runs 150 km down along the South West coastline; Taormina to the North East, and the coast of Trapani in the North West provide endless stretches of fabulous beach-lines with crystal blue waters and bays where fascinating geological sedimentary formations – deriving from the fertile volcanic soil of Sicily and its 7 volcanic islands of the Aeolian Archipelago – over the course of millennia have transformed the natural habitats into a magic spectacle of colour and diversity of fauna and flora.

With a demanding job and little time over to plan your vacation, wouldn’t it be amazing if someone else could do all the planning and all you had to do was to show up with an exotic cocktail in your hand? Done! We at YCB have already found the right accommodation for your trip. Rent a beach house in any location around Sicily and you will have a chance to experience the best of both worlds – beaches and nature habitats. It’s a win win!

The Isola Bella Bay by Taormina (a UNESCO world heritage site), with its pebbly beaches, majestic vegetation, coves and coral reefs should be your first stop. San Vito lo Capo is another famous white sandy beach located right in front of the Zingaro reserve and a perfect location for watersports.

Mondello (Palermo) in the North West, lies between the scenic panorama of Monte Gallo and Monte Pellegrino, and its pale-coloured soft sand and transparent blue waters make this a favourite spot for many locals. Close by along the northern coast lies the Lungomare di Cefalù, renowned for its golden sands and within walking distance of the historical centre – making it an ideal choice for history enthusiasts who can complement their sunbathing with a stroll down the streets of this historic small fishing village.

Mud baths and hot springs can be found at the Lago dello Specchio di Venere – Pantelleria, a volcanic lake surrounded by wetland where many protected species gather, including flamingos and herons. The lake is known since ancient times for its therapeutic properties, like the mud baths of Vulcano in the Aeolians.

So give yourself a break and head to Sicily this summer. You deserve it!
