Disney+ is the UK’s most targeted service for cancellation with 13,279 monthly Google searches

A study by short-term loan provider Lending Stream has found Worcester residents are the keenest to cancel their subscription services. The research analysed Google data across 78 UK cities, identifying the average monthly searches for terms like “cancel subscription” and “how to unsubscribe” between March 2024 and February 2025.

Subscription services considered included those offered by streaming platforms, like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime, food delivery providers like HelloFresh, and beauty product deliveries like Glossybox and Birchbox.

Worcester locals racked up a massive monthly average of 501.75 searches per 100,000 residents about ditching their monthly payments. Worcester locals searched most about ditching Disney+, with 90.08 searches per 100,000 people, much higher than seen in other cities. Amazon Music ranked second on Worcester’s hit list with 52.15 searches per 100,000 people.

Plymouth nabbed second place with 465.12 searches per 100,000 residents, while Oxford bagged the bronze position with 445.36 searches. Derry and Dundee rounded out the top five spots with 437.70 and 424.11 Google searches per 100,000 residents, respectively.

Streaming platforms dominated the subscription cancellation searches, with six of the top ten slots taken by entertainment services. Meal delivery services like HelloFresh and Gousto also featured prominently in the results, suggesting many UK households see these as prime targets for cutting back.

Andrew Wayland, VP Customer & Proposition at Lending Stream, said the results paint a clear picture of Britain’s subscription habits.

“With many households paying for multiple services simultaneously, the combined cost can quickly add up to a substantial monthly expense – especially given regional income differences. A household subscribing to just the top five services could easily spend over £50 per month, which amounts to £600 annually.

“People often underestimate how much they spend on subscriptions because the individual amounts seem small, but together they can form a sizable portion of monthly outgoings.”
