UK Blogger & Vlogger Zoe Sugg (Zoella) Creates Brand New Video Editing App, Filmm

Zoe Sugg (aka Zoella, the original YouTube sensation), together with American bloggers, Elsie Larson and Emma Chapman, have created a brand new video editing app, Filmm.

Filmm was created and designed as a reaction to the huge increase and demand in high quality short form video content and the girls spotting a gap in the market for a simple and effective way to create bespoke fun content. With simplicity and ease of use at its heart, users can easily produce unique and personalised short video clips with incredible effects and filters.

“Working with Elsie & Emma has been a dream come true as I already use and adore the photo editing apps they have created. As a huge lover of video and always searching for the best way of getting creative when it comes to video editing, working on Filmm has been so much fun and is already the app I was desperately in need of!” Zoe said.

Filmm makes it simple to mix and stack professional colour grading filters with authentic film textures, light effects and subtle distortions. There are over 100 filters and effects that users can utilise once the full app has been purchased. This includes the Camcorder effect for example, which will transport your video authentically back to the 1950s.

Elsie commented: “I’ve been so inspired by 70s tones and textures in my photography lately, but I didn’t have a way to translate that to the videos I wanted to share. We have big plans for Filmm, but out the gate we really wanted to focus on offering effects you can’t find anywhere else.”

Additionally, the new app includes advanced adjustment tools (including curves), story splitting save options, crop detection, pre-ready for social media dimensions and easy, frame-accurate clip trimming. With the help of Filmm, all aspiring video makers will now be able to create the perfect content.

Emma Chapman said: “Video is really taking over my social media, but we just couldn’t find a more subtle, adjustable way to make quick video edits that look really good. But if we’re being honest, video is a little outside my comfort zone at A Beautiful Mess or A Color Story. So having someone like Zoe—who built a career around video—having someone like her as a partner was crucial to creating Filmm and getting it right.”

All three women are at the top of their game in the digital content creator industry and could see a clear gap in the market as the rise and popularity of Instagram stories and IGTV continues to grow. On a daily basis, Zoe, Elsie and Emma are questioned by their loyal followers for their best video editing tips and tricks so that they can produce professional videos too. They didn’t have many options and as a result, directed their fans to either really expensive or very complicated sites. This led the influencers wanting to create a video editing app which is user friendly so the everyday content creator can produce a fun and unique profile.

Filmm was launched on the App Store on Thursday 9th May worldwide for iOS customers and will be free to download. The free version will give you two packs of incredible editing filters, including over 20 filters and effects as well as advanced adjustment tools, including curves and chroma split. There will also be an in-app purchase and subscription option for $19.99 a year which gives you access to hundreds of other gorgeous filters, cool effects and watermark control and early pricing on upcoming features.
