With Spring finally making an appearance, and those lazy, lighter evenings on the horizon, now is the perfect time to change up the look and feel of your home by adding some brighter colours into the mix. Here, we have teamed up with Vanessa Arbuthnott who gives us her 5 top tips for creating a spring inspired home.
1. Update your Cushions
The easiest way to freshen up a room is to purchase some fresh and vibrant accent cushions to complement the decor. With the winter throws and cosy blankets no longer needed, cushions can be a great accessory to add to a sofa or bench, and choosing some with spring‑inspired patterns and colours make for a fabulous finishing touch.
2. Change up the runner
After a long winter of poor weather and probably a lot of muddy shoes, your hall runner will be looking a little worse for wear, so why not invest in a new runner to freshen up this area of the house. Perhaps opt for a lighter material, and one with a bright colour weaved into the design, that way you’re adding a pop of colour whilst still allowing it to do its job.
3. Recover an old chair
You don’t have to go out and buy new furniture to get a spring inspired home. One of the easiest ways is to recover an old chair with fun patterns or natural linen which will lighten up a room.
With many pretty patterns to choose from this can really turn an old chair into a statement piece, and add a bit of vibrancy to any room in the house.
4. A fresh lick of paint
It may take a little longer than just getting some new cushions, however giving a room a fresh lick of paint is a fail safe way to offer a new lease of life to a room, perhaps opt for a two toned look with one feature wall painted a vibrant colour.
5. Invest in good lighting
If your home isn’t open to a lot of natural light, you may want to invest in some decent lighting to brighten up a room and make it seem larger. A poorly lit room usually feels dark and dingy, so perhaps opt for a floor lamp in a neutral colour so it doesn’t take up too much space, but which also adds a bit of drama and a lot more light
