Jewellery Stacking is the Must-Have Autumn Trend of 2025

August 20, 2025

As autumn arrives and wardrobes transition to layering staples, jewellery is following suit. According to new Pinterest data, jewellery stacking and layering is set to be one of the defining fashion trends of the season. Once synonymous with dainty, minimal chains inspired by the old-money aesthetic, jewellery has undergone a bold transformation. Designers from Celine to Schiparelli have already embraced a maximalist, more-is-more approach on the runway.

“The days of subtle, dainty jewellery are over and edgy maximalism has taken place”, says Arwa Hassan, in-house style director at PRYA. “Jewellery stacking, or layering, is the perfect way to breathe new life into your jewellery collection. While it might sound simple, there’s an artform to layering jewellery.”

The Art of the Stack

Jewellery stacking allows wearers to curate their own unique look by layering multiple pieces together.

Necklaces – Begin with a refined gold or sterling silver chain as your base, then build by mixing lengths and textures. A combination of dainty chains, chunkier pieces and a personalised name necklaces creates depth and individuality.

Top tip: Let your neckline guide your stack, longer chains complement v-neck and scoop neck tops, while shorter chains suit higher necklines.

Rings – Start with a bold statement ring and build around it. Play with balance by adding midi rings or spacing across different fingers. Thin bands act as spacers, while textured rings alongside smooth bands add contrast. Personalised elements such as initials or birthstones elevate the stack.

Earrings – Anchor your look with a hoop or drop earring, then experiment with studs, cuffs and daintier pieces. Mixing proportions and styles creates an eclectic yet balanced finish. Ear cuffs are a brilliant way to extend your stack without new piercings.

Bracelets – Start with a statement cuff or bangle and layer thinner complementary pieces. Experiment with different placements, from the wrist to the forearm, for a bolder look. Chain styles and mixed metals offer both polish and personality.

Stacking has been seen everywhere from the catwalks of Paris to street style in London. What makes it accessible is its versatility: it works just as well layered over chunky knits in the daytime as it does paired with a tennis necklace for the evening. Whether styled with a peal choker for a date night or mixed metal hardware for a bold statement, the stack adapts to every mood or occasion.

“There are no rules when it comes to stacking”, Arwa adds. “This season is all about confidence and creativity. Whether you’re mixing metals, pairing a pearl choker with playful charms or layering bangles in mismatched sizes, the stack is your canvas.”
