Get the Look: Anklets are Back Thanks to North West’s Heartfelt Gift to Kim Kardashian

May 20, 2025

Kim Kardashian has brought back the anklet, and we’re obsessed. After sharing a video of her Mother’s Day gift from North West – a custom diamond anklet featuring her kids birthstone – searches for “personalised anklet” are on the rise, and jewellery experts are calling it the must-have accessory for summer 2025.

The once-nostalgic anklet is getting a high-fashion revival. North West, the 10-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian, gifted her mum a personalised diamond anklet for Mother’s Day, sparking new interest in the sentimental summer accessory.

In a video shared to her Instagram stories on May 11th, Kim showcased the piece saying, “So, North gave me this anklet for Mother’s Day. It has all my kids’ birthstones starting with North. It’s a pearl.”

The anklet, crafted with a diamond-studded chain, features a pearl for North (June), topaz for Saint (December), garnet for Chicago (January) and emerald for Psalm (May).

As celebrity style continues to influence jewellery trends, experts are already seeing a spike in demand for bespoke anklets that blend sentimentality with sophistication.

According to jewellery brand PRYA, Google searches for “womens anklet”, “silver anklet” and “personalised anklet” all increased by 5,000% in the past 30 days in the UK.

Anklets are back in a big way”, says Arwa Hassan, in-house style director at PRYA. “But they’re not just boho beads anymore, we’re seeing a shift towards elegant, heirloom-quality designs that feel elevated but still personal. Birthstone anklets are especially popular because they celebrate loved ones while adding a unique pop of colour and sparkle. They’re the perfect summer accessory, chic, subtle and meaningful.”

Which ankle should you wear an anklet on?

Arwa continued, “There’s no right or wrong way to wear an anklet, it’s all about personal preference. Some traditions associate the left ankle with spirituality and the right ankle with wealth and success, but modern styling is all about personal expression.”
