Party outfits to take you through winter
Winter has always been our favourite season. With Christmas now only a few weeks away, here at Your Coffee Break, we are getting ready for the festive month. And as the party season is approaching in full force, you might be panicking about where you are going to get your next outfit from – a problem every woman faces, only compounded by the fact that if you go to any old high-street store, there is a 50% chance you are going to run into someone wearing exactly the same outfit. But don’t fret! This is where an online boutique like Street Chic can save you all that time and effort! We are so excited to put this site on your radar and to introduce you to Street Chic’s range of dresses perfect for looking and feeling fabulous.
Set up by Maria Kolozina, Street Chic caters to the woman who loves selective shopping and building up her wardrobe with investment pieces. The boutique currently stocks four of Russia’s most well-known designers, all of which Maria has chosen for their femininity and quality of their collections. Each collection offers something different than the other; Anna Stevar’s dresses are as comfortable as they are beautiful. A perfect example being the Midi dress (a firm favourite in the YCB office!) that we can’t wait to get our hands on to add a sparkle to any Christmas event. The designer also provides elegant yet bold statement pieces such as this coat and the Midi dress in electric blue and black.
Dasha Gauser’s design is sexy and smart. By using natural fabrics such as silk, wool, linen and cotton the collection is characterised by its experimental design. The accessories, such as this clutch, originates in a vision of design as an expression of art and will most certainly add personality to any outfit.
Winter attire needn’t be as grey as the weather. Designer Anna Ivanova provides the bolder pieces in the boutique and Street Chic has some amazing options to fuel our urge! For the office holiday party, we love this pencil skirt or challenge yourself and take a step outside your comfort zone with this coat with a zipper. .
It’s easy to see that Maria has chosen the designers based on their talent and has given them a platform for international recognition. The Russian fashion world has so much to offer, a lot of which has not yet been seen– and Maria definitely knows what she is looking for. While talking to the founder about her experience building up her online boutique, it became clear that she not only has a passion for great fashion but has had a lot of practice and experience looking for it. A regular visitor to Italy as well as a childhood of uniquely tailored clothing has given Maria a strong industry knowledge which is seen in her choice of designers.
The holidays should be the most wonderful time of the year filled with celebrations, good food and drinks, and no one wants to run around feeling stressed over finding a party outfit. Credit cards at the ready we asked the Street Chic Style team for their advice on outfits for several scenarios that we may face throughout the festive season. According to Linda Creedon, Fashion Assistant at Street Chic, leather and metallic textures are the big trends this season. The IV Mini Dress being our favourite leather number! When it comes to cocktail appropriate outfits we will opt for rich berry shades, sumptuous fabric and glamorous jewels. When taking an outfit from office to party, the style team gave us their tips for a vamped up look; “swap your office heels to killer stilettos, put on some sparkly jewellery, add a bright lip colour and let your hair down for a quick transformation.” they told us.
If you decide to invest in just one dress for the season you want to be able to accessorise them differently for different events, no? For the Christmas party keep jewellery simple and elegant, and then for that glitzy New Year Bash accessorise with dazzling and elegant pieces. “Swap the statement clutch for a simple bag as all eyes will be on you to be sure you get your New Years Kiss.” Maria said.
So as we enter the new holiday season, we had to ask for a rundown of which Street Chic Boutique pieces Maria and Linda would choose for several winter events. Let’s begin with the Thanksgiving dinner. Maria suggests the Dasha Gauser Mini Dress in blue, “a print that is very figure flattering and can be paired with tights and heels for a daytime look”. Next is the Christmas office party and when picking the dress, Maria recommends any of the colour block pieces, which can easily be transformed from a day to night look while still looking classy and chic. And last but not least, to bring in the New Year in style, Maria says the Anna Stevar Mini with feathers is the perfect piece, it’s glamour further emphasised by statement jewellery.
