Who Rocked It And Who Lost It: Our Oscars Red Carpet Round up

Who rocked it and who lost it: Our Oscars red carpet round up

Best dressed at the Oscars 2014

The Oscars are the very pinnacle of awards season. Eclipsing all others, the Academy Awards are the biggest, the glitziest and when it comes to the red carpet, the most glamorous. The rain stopped just in time for the red carpet parade and not only did last nights awards provide us with the selfie of the year (just when we thought we couldn’t love Bradley Cooper more), we also saw some of our favourite starlets take a plunge and wow us with their red carpet style.

Jennifer Lawrence wore Dior (of course) and was beautiful in a slim red gown (probably wanting to avoid any trip hazards) and Sandra Bullock was resplendent in a beautifully draped midnight blue Alexander Mcqueen gown. There was a sea of black again (seriously who died), from Anne Hathaway in Gucci, Charlize Theron in Dior and Margot Robbie in Saint Laurent but Sheherazade Goldsmith wore it best in beautiful lace detailed Elie Saab.

We may well be burnt at the stake for voicing our opinion here but Lupita Nyong’o in pale blue Prada – didn’t love it. Beautiful gown, beautiful girl, but combined it was a bit “meh.” However, Hollywoods current darling did receive Best Supporting Actress for her role in 12 Years a Slave and her acceptance speech was so very lovely that we’re moved to forgive the plunging neckline…

As for the boys, Matthew McConaughey picked up his Best Actor award for Dallas Buyers Club looking very dapper in a Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo whilst Pharrell challenged convention in a way only he really could, donning a Lanvin shorts suit.

Our favourites of the night include Kate Hudson in Atelier Versace, just a divine bias cut gown in silver with a gorgeous cape-esque detailing at the back (she changed into a beyond gorgeous Zuhair Murad gown for the Vanity Fair after party and continued to be the most fabulous woman in Hollywood). Cate Blanchett wore a stunning embellished Armani Privé gown to collect her best actress award for Blue Jasmine and Emma Watson was a refreshing combination of elegant yet youthful in shimmering metallic Vera Wang and accessorised with had hands down the most flawless makeup of the night. That girl sure knows how to work a red lip…
