How to Take Your Career to the Next Level in a New Year

The majority of people have “ordinary” job positions. We find a job, do whatever it requires from 9 to 5, then go home, meet with friends, enjoy a glass of red and find the best slots to play online for fun etc. All this routine goes in circles. Of course, there is nothing bad about it as it still brings profit. But there are people, who have it all on a totally different level. Those, who take leading positions by the age of 30, while others can hardly climb a career ladder. It is time to change something. It is time to take your career to the next level.

Master your skills regarding the company’s needs

At the very beginning of a career, technical skills play an important role. You are checked for almost everything from Excel to programming, from the product design to sales, etc. With the time technical skills lose their priority and communication takes the first place. An ability to find a common language with people as well as work in a team is an integral part of any job.

It is important to understand how one can manoeuvre in the world of corporate policy. How to add value to the company and define what exactly it needs? If you know this and do consequent steps in this way, then the next step in a career is already in your “oyster”.

Choose a boss, not a company

People think that having a job in such companies as Facebook or Goldman Sachs, they will be employed forever. In very deed, success in a career depends on a great mentor. You can not only learn from him/her being in professional circles, but can also get to their “club” proving that you are one of them by doing a great job. This leads not only to the next level in a career but also to more opportunities than ever.

The formula of success

the New York Times has researched the grounds why certain groups of people are more successful than others. It might sound a little improperly but on average Asians are more successful than any other nation. Indian- Americans earn almost twice more ($90.000 annually, while the profit of an average household on median line is $50.000). Persian, Lebanese and Chinese Americans also earn more.

With the combination of faith that you can reach whatever you want, discipline and a feeling of desire to reach a new level in a career – you receive a formula for a successful and effective career.

Reality is an illusion

The reality that happens around us totally depends on the things we used to see. There have always been and will be people of different social and financial statuses. Those, who come from poor families, always wonder how it is possible to become a doctor or get a university degree, etc. It is because they simply don’t know how to reach these goals.

There is an endless number of things you perceive for granted (as a normal state of things), whereas for other it is something unbelievable. Work hard side by side with the best representatives of industries, read their books, listen to their interviews and one day these unreal crazy dreams will come true.
