Introducing Optiat’s New Organic and Hemptastic Collection

As we continue to love all things coffee here at Your Coffee Break, our most recent obsession in the world of all-things-beauty has been Optiat’s brand new skincare collection. This awesome nature-friendly beauty company gives life to ingredients that would otherwise be discarded, creating non-toxic repurposed lush natural scrubs. Most impressively, Optiat recycles the used Arabica beans from local London coffee shops to create their antioxidant-rich exfoliators. #YCBLoves!

Working together with the Optiat family, we have learnt that the team has some extremely high standards for their coffee only reusing the best Arabica beans grown in mountain shade. Although they are harder and more costly to grow, they taste oh-so much better! Our general rule of thumb is that, if it’s not good enough to put inside your body, it’s not good enough to put on your body either.

The eco-friendly company was launched in 2016 by siblings William and Anna Brightman after they discovered the large amount of coffee going to waste and damaging the environment. After William received a cafetiere for Christmas and began brewing his own coffee, he was shocked by the amount that was being thrown away after just one single use.

With more than 55 million cups of coffee consumed every day the YCB offices alone – jokes, that’s in the UK – more than 500,000 tonnes of coffee grounds are sent to landfill every year. As a result, the duo were determined to find a better way to recycle used coffee beans, create a skin-loving, sustainable product that strays from the ‘take, make, dispose’ process and, ultimately, trigger a change in the beauty industry.

The team behind Optiat is a dedicated bunch aiming to minimise the impact they have on the wider environment and keeping things in use for as long as possible. They pride themselves on being vegan-friendly and cruelty-free and so their products not only leave you with glowing skin but a clear conscience too!
