Dior delivers another Oscar winning performance

Dior Autumn/Winter 2013

Just days after the Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence dons Dior on the red carpet, the House of Christian Dior delights Paris Fashion Week with Raf Simons’ second ready-to-wear collection referencing major art history iconic moments.

Sitting front row at the show in the Hotel National des Invalides in Paris were the Indian actress Chitrangada Singh, and models Natalie Vodianova, Olivia Palermo and Chelsea Tyler.

Pop Art influences were most prominent. Simons filled the catwalk with silver balloons, emulating Andy Warhol interior design style of the Factory. Warhol illustrated shoes and female portraits were imprinted on bags, bodices, and asymmetrical peplums. Simons stayed faithful to Dior’s reputation for classic 1950’s inspired French elegance with monochrome colour blocked dresses and clean lines.

With a tip of the hat to the classics; the full-skirted silhouette and the Dior Dog tooth check appeared in black leather and bustier form. Knits hit new heights and a grey mink A-line coat-dress took the collection to another level.

The collection certainly delivered! Simons has projected his own identity whilst keeping the Dior brand completely on message. We couldn’t be more excited to see what is to come next from the Belgian designer and the House of Dior.
