Make Yours A Home Sweet Home With Sodahl

There’s no better feeling than when you’re smashing your goals at work. We’re a bunch of driven career women at YCB and we’re constantly on the go, travelling, meeting new people and enjoying breaks abroad. We can’t sit still for long!

Whilst we love chasing our dreams it can be a little disheartening when we finally do return back and feel out of sorts in our own home. Living out of hotel rooms and spending more time on the commute that with our loved ones comes with the territory, but what can we do to feel our best when we are at home?

There’s nothing like a bit of retail therapy, and we think investing in a few key pieces to make you feel comfortable is a great place to start. We have teamed up with Sodahl to give you the ultimate guide to make yours a home sweet home.

Sodahl are a Danish design brand who have been established for over 50 years and have stuck to their philosophy from day one. Their aim is to provide long-lasting products, not only in terms of quality, but their design and look too.

On of the most versatile homeware items you can invest in is a throw. Not only can they be used on beds and sofas, but they can be moved between rooms or stacked in a wicker basket for decoration.

We love this sailor knit throw in teal which features a distinctive leather strap made of soft, tobacco-coloured imitation suede. Spreading warmth and cosiness, this teal colour can be paired with a variety of colours including this pebble cushion in dusty berry. The stonewashed fabric has been carefully treated to achieve the sought-after, slightly sun-bleached look. This effect combined with the trendy weave with slightly waffled surface adds depth and texture to an otherwise simple item. The fabric is slightly creased, matching the laid-back Bohemian trend perfectly.

For something more feminine try this Quiet throw in nude, which is made of 100% ultra-soft cotton. The light and airy fabric makes for a delicate throw which can be used to keep warm on the sofa or as a layering piece on beds and other soft furnishings.

Speaking of beds, we have to mention this stunning duvet cover which is a step up from your regular nude colour palette. The peachy tones with cool grey squares is unlike anything we’ve seen on the high street, and offers inspiration to introduce similar colours in your interior design plans.

For something more traditional, we also like this gorgeous china blue pansy bed cover. This is a non-fussy way to use florals in the bedroom and the flashes of red make a subtle statement without being too bold. A modern twist on country style it’s reminiscent of all those summer family gatherings at the holiday cottage.

Create an inviting hallway for when you return home with this ethnic inspired Aura rug with anti-slip. It features an elegant, feminine mix of patterns with motifs which lends itself well to a Bohemian style, but in neutral tones which will work with your existing colour choices.

Add more seating to make social gatherings more enjoyable with this seat cushion in heavy cotton canvas. The style is so minimalist that it looks diving on top of wooden crates up-cycled into a bench, and suggests a peaceful way of life rather than rigid, structured furniture.

If you struggle to find the motivation to cook when you’re at home then don’t forget to make your kitchen as inviting as possible. Simple additions like this linen mix oven mit will make meal-prepping a pleasure, and the laid-back style exudes casual elegance with high quality. This minimalist look is also available in an Indigo apron which is one of the coolest aprons we’ve ever seen. Cool and elegant, just how you want to feel whilst cooking up a storm at your next dinner party.

And when serving up your foodie feast, keep your home clean and tidy with this beautiful Diamond grid tablecloth in mauve. The sharp design is modern but not overly complicated, adding the finishing touch to your table plan whilst protecting your furniture leaving you to enjoy the party.
