Hope you’ve been enjoying your iced frappe’s and blended smoothes over the summer, because now it’s almost coming to an end. Fortunately for you, we’ve got just the thing to kick-start your autumn. These are 5 easy to follow coffee recipes certain to keep you warm and joyful.
1. The Red Eye
Quick, easy, simple, but smart. We are starting with the ‘red eye’ as it’s sure to wake those sleepy eyes and by far the most hassle-free coffee mixture of pure goodness. Start by grounding regular coffee beans, you can easily do this with a quality coffee grinder. Next you’re going to carefully pour one shot (1 Ounce) of espresso, and that’s it! Just in case one hasn’t done the trick you can also make a “black eye coffee” by mixing 2 shots of espresso. These are best served in a small to medium sized cup. Known for its smooth taste and quick result this will give you that extra boost you needed, and allow you to embrace your love for autumn.
2. Autumn Spiced Brown Sugar Maple Latte
Sugar and spice and everything nice! Here’s something with a twist, and we’re sure you’re going to love it a little more, every time. For this creamy cup of joy you will need 2 shots (2 Ounces) of espresso, 2 tablespoons of maple flavoured brown sugar, 1/8 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice and ½ cup of low fat milk.
First brew two shots of espresso before gently stirring the maple sugar and pumpkin spice into one large cup. Finally top up by adding half a cup of foamed milk (which you can whisk in a separate container first). For this drink we recommend a medium to large size serving. Gently sprinkling ½ tablespoon of sugar to the foam will create a caramelise topping. Drink up with delight!
Just add chocolate! Seeing as it’s getting a bit cold in some areas, there may come a perfect time to sit around your best friend’s fireplace and consume as many marshmallows as possible to satisfy your autumn cravings. We see nothing wrong with doing this of course, but before you do, make a cup of this delicious homemade Mocha. With 2 tablespoons of finely grinded dark-roasted coffee beans, take a large mug to mix with boiling water, and 2/3 cup mocha powder or hot chocolate mix. Stir until this has fully dissolved. Add 1 shot of espresso and finish off with heated milk and a gentle dust over of mocha powder. Oh yes, almost forgot! Top that bad boy with a swirl of your favourite whipped cream. I find this is best served with some simple biscuits, just to even out the sweetness. Pure perfection if you ask us.
4. Butter Coffee
This appetising coffee is just the thing if you’re sensitive to caffeine, or perhaps you struggle to eat breakfast and need something to fill you up before lunchtime. This is sure to do the job. Finely blend your coffee beans and simply add boiling water into a small to medium sized cup, then add 1 tablespoon of gently whisked grass-fed butter (unsalted). With 1 small tablespoon of coconut oil, stir until ready.
5. Hazelnut Macchiato
Ok, so we are finishing off with our favourite here at the YCB offices, you may have heard of the caramel macchiato? Well… the hazelnut doesn’t fall far from the tree. To make this you will want to take ½ cup of low fat milk and add 2 tablespoons of steamed hazelnut flavoured coffee creamer. Stir 2 shots (4 ounces) of freshly brewed espresso, and finish off with 1 tablespoon of chocolate syrup drizzled delicately on top. It’s a perfect fit for the colder season.
There you go! Now you can discover the true wonder of coffee, when it’s made how it’s supposed to be. So grab some woolly socks, your favourite cuddly blanket, and choose to make one of these delicious warming coffees. Or if you want you could just make them all…
