Transform your living room on a budget

Your living room might be looking a little tired, a little cluttered and just isn’t a good reflection of you and your personality. Considering it’s where you’ll be spending most of your time while at home, to relax and entertain, it’s important it looks and feels good. Here are some easy ways of transforming your living room, but without spending a huge amount of money!

1. De clutter

One of the easiest things to do is to remove anything unnecessary from your living space but you don’t have to throw it in the bin! Look in to a storage unit, which allows you to pay monthly for an external space that keeps all your belongings safe and secure when you don’t need them. Whether you’re based in London and looking for larger Heathrow storage based opportunities or just need a small cupboard size nearby, there will always be something available.

2. Borrow items from other rooms

One of the easiest ways of introducing new décor to your living area is to simply borrow it from another room. A mirror hanging in the hallway might look so much better displayed above your sofa or that chest of drawers in the bedroom might better match the colour scheme in the living room. Don’t be afraid to move things around and transform your space with things you already own.

3. Add some greenery

Even if you don’t have a green thumb it’s easy to introduce more greenery to your living room. Air plants in terrariums, hung from the ceiling in the corner are so easy to care for – they simply require a spritz of water every couple of months to keep them going.

Succulents and cacti are also easy to care for and can be dotted around the room on the coffee table and on the shelves. If you’re looking for something bigger and bolder, peace lilies are reasonably easy to care for and they come back quickly if you’ve left them un-watered for a while. Plants not only look good but they also provide significant health benefits in a living space, take a look at this article which suggests a few you could consider.

4. Have a move around

Moving furniture around can make a huge difference to a room and create space you didn’t realise you had. Shift that sofa to the left to make room for a side table, move the bookcase away from the window to let more light in and push the rug into the centre of the room to create a striking focal point.

5. Add some bold décor

Bright colours are easy to introduce to a living space, in the form of cushions, candles and wall art. Stores such as Primark and Asda are curating amazing homeware ranges for very little cost, so check these out before you pay out for that single cushion from Next or M&S. Look for items in similar colours to Pantone’s colours of the year – Rose Quartz and Serenity – that consist of a gorgeous warm pink and contrasting powder blue, mix some scatter cushions and throws in these colours on the sofa and you’re on to a winner.

When it comes to transforming and revamping your living room you don’t need to spend hundreds of pounds, simply make some small changes that can have a real impact.
