Hot on our Radar: Discovering the BAO BAO Issey Miyake SS16 Collection

BAO BAO Issey Miyake SS16 Collection

If you have been a long time reader of YCB, you will know how we feel about Issey Miyake bags – we love them! The 77-year-old Japanese designer combines function and luxury, and with the signature triangular pattern we’d recognise them anywhere.

Sticking to the same geometric style as previous seasons, the designer has again produced a gloriously futuristic BAO BAO Issey Miyake collection. The triangular shapes may have remained the same but the scope of the collection has expanded greatly to include several new styles, in a kaleidoscopic range of colours, as well as a sporty, more masculine set.

As these handbags are incredibly flexible, dependant on what goes in the bag, how you hold it, how it complements the rest of your outfit, the same bag can look completely different on each individual.

Bright colours and bold but simplistic graphic prints are set to be big for Spring/Summer trends, as well as more cuts which will harp back to the 90s. For any trend you choose, there is a bag, clutch or larger wallet in this collection which will perfectly complement your look!

If like some of us your wardrobe is monochromatic enough, and you’re planning to switch it up in the New Year, have no fear – there are many bags in the collection which can add that modern pop of colour in the upcoming months. From Barbie-esque aqua and fuchsia, to bright pastel pinks and periwinkle, bright summer orange and ocean blues, to the grungy khaki colours which will match so well with any 90s inspired outfits.

The Platinum collections are futuristic twist in the colour palette, giving metallic options in both bright colours and monochrome, and again coming in a variety of shapes. Likewise, the matte cream and black Crystal bags being personal favourites!

The Prism Aurora bags, which have a beautiful marble effect of colours, are the perfect complement to both a white dress for spring days and a black number for summer nights.
