A guide to women's wrist wear for every occasion

Any fashion-conscious modern woman knows that simple touches often result in big highlights. Whether it’s silver buttons on a dark jacket or tying a belt around a dress, there are a myriad of ways to get noticed without resorting to a bright neon sign above your head.

Wrist jewellery is often an underutilised side of the fashion spectrum, so here some tips to make the most of it.

At the office

Depending on your job, the office is normally a place of professionalism and protocol. Of course, many startups across the world throw out the notion of dress codes – allowing employees to (within reason) wear whatever they want in the workplace. However, for those of us who still adhere to the classic business wear for women, wrist jewellery should reflect the same ideals.

A wristwatch never looks anything but sophisticated and respectable, and will also save you having to check the time on your phone, the bottom of your computer screen, or the office clock that you forgot stopped working three weeks ago. Many online watch sellers have a great range of famous watch brands for working women, such as Cartier or Rolex, and are often much more affordable than shops on the high street.

At the gym

After all those hours sitting at the office, you’re ready to move on to the gym down the road. Fitness trackers are becoming not only stylish, but incredibly useful little things. The Apple Watch and Fitbit are current YCB favourites, but the Jawbone UP3 should certainly not be overlooked. While claims of “The world’s most advanced tracker” may or may not be true, the fitness device from Jawbone certainly does a lot. Coupled with the Smart Coach app for your smartphone, the UP3 can measure and give detailed statistics on intense activity, sleep, heart rate, and even food intake. It doesn’t look half-bad either.

On the town

You’ve had a long day at the office and a few hours in the gym, but you’ve still got what it takes to check out that new bar your friends keep insisting on seeing. No matter your outfit, there’s likely to be a gorgeous bracelet that matches your style, which is where Endless Jewelry comes in. Customisable jewellery is in vogue right now, giving the wearer the chance to design a leather bracelet or necklace with hundreds of unique silver, gold, or rose gold charms. The impeccable Jennifer Lopez even has her own range, so you know you’re in good company.
