Planning outfits for London Fashion Week with MixMatchMe

Fashion month is now in full swing, with London Fashion Week only days away. While we love to see what our favourite designers have come up with for the new season, we also can’t wait to see what the celebs in the frow are wearing. Street style is huge at fashion week; it’s the best place to get inspiration and see how the latest trends work in ‘real life’. With that, though, comes a certain pressure to rock your best outfit and keep up with some of the most stylish people in the bizz.

Here at Your Coffee Break we have been deliberating over what we’re going to be wearing for weeks. Sometimes you’ll have a picture of an outfit in your head that looks amazing, only to not be able to find those perfect pieces, or when you actually come to put it all together it looks nothing like you thought it would. And with our lifestyles becoming increasingly hectic during the Fashion Month, more often than not you just don’t have the time to trawl the high street, so turn to the World Wide Web. Convenient, yes, but you won’t always know if all the pieces look right together.

You need agonise no longer, for we’ve found the answer in MixMatchMe. The shoppable site lets you put outfits together, dressing up a virtual mannequin so you can see exactly how the clothes will work together in real life. Like your very own virtual wardrobe à la Clueless (hands up who grew up wishing they had Cher’s outfit selector?) and with high street favourites such as Mango, Warehouse and Topshop, you can find the perfect outfit in a matter of minutes and sit back, smug in the knowledge that you are completely organised for fashion week.

We’ve been scouring the site ourselves to plan our outfits and here’s what we’ll be wearing for London Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week:

What to wear to London Fashion Week with MixMatchMe

For London, we’ve gone for tonal dressing with shades of white and nude, as seen on the runways in February in the likes of Hugo Boss’ and Marc Jacobs’ AW14 collections. Chunky knits are a huge trend this season, as is mixing textures. At LFW we like to be a bit more daring and experimental in the way we dress so we’ll be pairing this French Connection jumper with a see-through lace skirt from Urban Outfitters. The chunky heel of these Topshop sandals will keep us steady on the cobbles at Somerset House, while the delicateness of these Miss Selfridge rings will provide contrast to the chunky jumper and shoes. Finally, we’ll be adding a pop of colour with this bright blue tote from Mango, and no outfit at fashion week is complete without a pair of sunnies like these ones, also from Mango.

For The City of Light we’ll be channelling the likes of Emmanuelle Alt, editor in chief of Vogue Paris, and going for an edgy yet effortless look. To emanate Left-Bank-cool we’ll be wearing head-to-toe black while throwing in a couple of statement pieces. Leather trousers like these ones from Asos are perfect for fashion week (you may even get mistaken for an off-duty model) and make the perfect contrast to a delicate heel like this Office pair. We’ll be carrying on the black theme with this chiffon Topshop shirt but will add a bit of summin’ summin’ with this embellished Asos jacket (a bit Isabel Marant, non?). As for accessories, we’ll be keeping it classic and simple with cateye sunglasses and a silver ring from Mango, and a black French Connection clutch.
